We waited too long for the airport shuttle upon arrival. Leaving we were not on the list for the airport shuttle even after confirming with the representative. Thankfully I was pushy and the driver took us anyway.

Floors appeared dirty in room and bathroom as well as shower. Water pressure was also horrible. Rest of the property was aesthetically pleasing. Food was typical resort food with some notable dishes including oxtail, stew chx, and other Jamaican staples. Lobster night was terrible. The well anticipated steak house was comical. Boxed Mac and cheese advertised as shrimp Mac and cheese except there was no shrimp! Better steak was served at the buffet. Entertainment during the night was lacking. Just a water park and small play room exists for kids. Foam party was son and my child enjoyed it. Staff was exceptional. It’s a maybe to stay there again.

There were technological issues with the keys on the first day and then with the reservation system on the last day. In addition, you have reserve restaurants at least 24 hours prior. For example, we arrived on Monday and had to wait until midnight to reserve for Wednesday since the cutoff for Tuesday was Sunday night at midnight. Also the resort credits we received were $651/per room. Their use came with restrictions that actual united their use. Bottom line, we didn’t even use them. Overall the place was a good stay, but the areas of improvement are listed above.

I had a bad experience. My son got hurt on the property. The floors were wet and my son hurt himself and dislocated his right kneecap. He was rushed to the hospital. He had to seek medical attention and had to use crutches. So needless to say the remainder of the trip was spent with him in pain.

We just returned from a 5 night stay. I have to say that this was such a pleasant surprise! We loved this resort and had a great time as a family. We have 2 boys, 16 and 11. My 16 year old was “bored” for the first couple of days, until he started joining activities. He ended up having the best time and meeting people. The entertainment team is top notch! Very inviting and there is always something going on. Starfire, the kids entertainment leader, was incredible! My son adored her and was very sad he didn’t get a picture with her. The service was another high point. Whether it was pool side, or restaurants or even the buffet, we never went without. Mikaela and Rose at the kids pool were on top of it! Made sure our glasses were never empty. 🙂 The beach was so gorgeous as well! I will warn you, our view was not great, but we didn’t mind in the slightest. We aren’t in our room much and only sit there before dinner and have a drink or two. Only negatives: 1) The beds are very very tiny though! My husband and I ended up sleeping on the pull out couch, as it was a true queen. 2) two days the kids pool was closed due to someone poo-ing in the pool. It would be nice to not have it closed for the whole day when that happens, as the other pool kids are allowed in is very tiny!

Great place to stay. The food was good. Accommodations were very good as well.

The room was clean but a bit of mold in the room. I believe it was due to the humidity in the rooms. Clean none the less. The internet cut out sometimes depending where you were in the resor but for the most part worked just fine. The staff was good. However, we had several issues with our room keys and they almost looked annoyed we kept coming back for help. Otherwise, all the serving staff and entertainment team were friendly and great at what they do. The shuttle was confusing upon landing. They kept needing several booking and reservation numbers from us and the process wasn’t streamlined. The beach had rocks in the water about knee height so it was difficult to go in and enjoy the water. I loved the pool areas. The bartenders did a great job at getting people there drinks. The food was really good for an all inclusive. I had the fried fish and beef patties in the buffet and chance I had.

Beautiful resort, clean, staff is amazing

The double beds are slightly larger than a twin size. Coffee stand doesn’t open until 10. Some of the staff were rude others kind and helpful. A lot of the staff could not answer questions about food or types of drinks but most would take the time to find out. It just took a while. The food at restaurants were not good and most of the time, we ended up going to the buffet after. Minimal food by pool and room service options are extremely limited. I’ve traveled to dozens of all inclusive and very surprised that this resort was rated so high. I would say it’s a 3 star family resort at best.

Everything was simply beautiful. The customer service was outstanding to say the least. From the buffet, nightly entertainment, and other amenities offered, the Riu is definitely a place I am coming back to visit soon! There’s tons to do with kids, you can even book all of your excursions right on site. I highly recommend.
