Vintage glamour, renovated, great bed, super comfortable. Lovely bathroom w all the amenities. Thanks Hotel Julian, and to Angel who checked me in. Also, for Hitchcock fans, lots of Easter eggs :)

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is clean and updated.

Staff was super nice! Rooms have super thin walls so could hear the other guests! The shower doors wouldn’t close all the way so water spilled all over the floor. They don’t have parking so be prepared to pay 45 dollars for overnight parking nearby!

Close to restaurants, bars, union square, china town other cool attractions and things to do in San Francisco. Lively surrounding area. However the streets are dirty and a little noisy at times. Street parking is a real challenge

The only issue is you need $200 extra for them to hold onto while you stay on their property. Other than that is was a really great place to stay and cheap. They said they started to implement a $20 amenities fee but I feel like they should add that to the full price of the stay.

My rooms was spacious and clean. Front desk staff was super helpful.

Hotel was good and location was good. Not having parking was costly as the garage in the area was pricy.

I’ve stayed here over years, and always enjoyed my time. It does seem like the city is working towards cleaning itself up. A few zombies around the hotel, but never felt unsafe or I was walking down a “bad street”. The hotel itself is just old. It feels old, not in a classy way. While the charm is still there, it’s just weathered. Staff was great! Bar was good. It’s clean, but I probably wouldn’t stay again, even at this very reasonable price.

This will be my go to hotel for anytime I need to stay near downtown San Francisco. The staff were nice, the restaurant and bar was nice to have in its place. The staff were very helpful too. The site does have only one elevator, but you are not waiting for it for long.

Great staff, friendly and welcoming. Room was clean. Only one elevator is not easy for the staff and guests together in the same elevator but we can discuss work and listen to the staff while going to the room. The area outside is a bit sketchy in the evening! But overall good place to stay! Thank you!

The hotel was nice and the people were very friendly. Especially the Bar/Restaurant crew. The area was not too safe looking. The floors were sticky and the sheets were not too soft. When I went to wash my hair there was no conditioner in the bottle. It was empty.

Don’t waste your money or time. If I could give zero stars I would. But I want this rating to be seen and recorded. I plan to personally reach out to Expedia based on my experience at this hotel. This includes these experiences: BLOOD on the floor of a room, a door to one of our rooms, DID NOT lock. Found evidence in our room that it was not thoroughly turned back and cleaned. The front desk staff was extremely unhelpful in many situations. This included the property manager's condescending attitude towards women (muchismo macho man himself.) Also, the area? You’re literally right on San Francisco’s "tenderloin"… So one morning, we were woken up to what sounded like a literal explosion at 5:30AM. Human excrement was also in the streets nearby. And I guess a homeless lady was in the hotel lobby the night before we left. This hotel charges WAY too much for anything they offer. If they charged accordingly and actually accommodated you accordingly for the problems that were had, it would be completely different. Our weekend was overall wonderful as long as we were out of our hotel.

A Charming Gem in San Francisco – 10/10! I absolutely loved the antique charm of this hotel, it felt like stepping into a piece of history. The happy hour was a whole vibe with great music, stunning aesthetics, and a fun bartender and server who made the experience even better. The staff throughout my stay were kind, professional, and incredibly helpful from check-in to check-out. A surprise highlight was the gym! I wasn’t expecting one, but it had everything I needed and got the job done. The rooms were spacious, and the bed was super comfortable, perfect after a long day of exploring. What truly set this place apart was the character and history. Knowing the hotel was featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo added such a cool layer to the atmosphere. The artwork and overall vibe were a solid 10/10. Highly recommend this spot if you’re heading to San Francisco. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip!
