Spa is only above average part of this hotel. The decor is dated, the carpets throughout the entire corridors are bleach stained, it looks appalling. The breakfast was stale and warm, we couldn't finish it.

The rooms were clean and tidy, with robes and slippers available for use in the spa. Good gym and spa area. Great golfing areas with picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. The only slight blemish was limited snacks after 5.00pm

Hotel was clean staff friendly. Sorry but after that it goes down hill. Booked the hotel partly for the pool and facilities after a long days shopping. Pool changing rooms less than half the lockers work, pool cold. We planned to eat in the bar but on arrival this was basically closed for refurbishment and we were told we could eat there but it was soul less and full with a temporary bar. We were offered a choice of about 4 lagers, or soft drinks, no spirits or wine. We chose instead to try the restaurant. We ordered drinks but were told that no lemon was available for the g&t as the bar was closed for refurbishment. We ordered a main course which took over an hour to come when there was only about 4 other tables being used by other diners. When the food came my beef stew could be described as average at best and my wife received veg taglatelli when she ordered prawn linguine? The waiter offer to change it but we refused not wanting to wait another hour. Breakfast was almost as bad as some of the hot breakfast food was cold. We could at least have been pre warned about the bar refurbishment then we could at least have made other arrangements. Sorry but overall not 4* by any stretch.

Spa is fabulous, especially the strong water jets on the shoulder - fab. There were a few people about but it did not feel 'busy' - I did not have to wait to use anything. Same can be said for the gym which had better machines and more variations on kettle bells than my home gym. Godo quality breakfast with variety of choice, inclduing several options for milk. Lovely, friendly, welcoming and very polite staff at all touchpoints from arrival throughout. We were very happy with our last minute spontaneous visit. Would definitely visit again. PS rooms were really clean, which is important to me. And when my husband realised he was going to be too hot at night, the staff were very quick to accommodate with a helpful solution of a thick sheet instead of duvet.

The room was clean and everything smelt fresh. The jacuzzi bath in the Suite was Devine. The staff were super friendly and helpful - 10 out 10 😊. The big whirlpool/jacuzzi was lovely. The breakfast (room service) was mediocre at best - 1st morning it was cold and the poached egg was solid, the fresh fruit was just an apple (very disappointing). The 2nd morning was a little improved. Other than that we lived our stay and will be back 😊

Starting with the good points: staff are brilliant and very helpful; excellent breakfast with wide range on offer from full English Breakfast to variety of milks/fruit/cereals (but no porridge or Coco Pops jus rice crispies/corn flakes etc). Our room was clean with towelling robes and slippers but the bathroom floor tiles needed some more grout. Our room faced south and it was a glorious afternoon during our stay and the gardens are superb. Downstairs in the pool/spa area there was a steam room, excellent sauna and pool with 2 bubbling tubs. There were 4 tiled relaxation beds but they were not warm so no one used them. The pool itself was warm so no worries there with kids. We tried the bar food on our first night and it was ok, saving us the problem of going out to find somewhere. Bad point was the patchy internet. I used hotel and 5G mobile data and it was extremely hard to get a signal even outside. The TV kept cutting out (internet issues??) and there was no Sky Sports or Sky anything.

The pool, jacuzzi and sauna area was a fabulous treat and really well kept. The breakfast was really good with plenty of gluten free options, nespresso coffee and milk alternatives. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

The staff were helpful and friendly. Received a warm welcome on arrival when booking in. The room was in good condition, but lacked plug points near the bed. The bathroom was in good order and the was great, except on the final morning, no hot water and the shower gel ran out. (Mentioned it to the receptionist when booking out, they stated they were aware of the problem and maintenance were working on it, No apology). Another member of my group had to ask for shower gel and hand wash as there was none in their room on arrival. Had to ask again as only supplied with hand wash. Breakfast was chaotic, there only appeared to one member of who I felt sorry for as they were running around trying to do everything. Long queue for the food which came out in small quantities, running out immediately. (Although on a positive point it did mean it was fresh). The small coffee machine kept getting jammed and running out of water. I witnessed a number of guest complaining throughout my two night stay. I felt sorry the staff as it was clear they were doing their best, battling a lack of resources and what appeared to be a lack of investment (faulty equipment). Overall I would say considering how the hotel portrays itself as a luxury Golf & Spa hotel, it failed to live up to expectations.

Most staff were professional and thoughtful but the room was let down by looking tired and the bed was two singles zipped together. Not as booked and we kept sinking into the join. It was otherwise spacious with a great view. Great location and very clean spa. Tasty breakfast. Cosy ambience with elegant facade. Worth a visit but double check bed and room location.

Feels as though the dining and bar areas could do with some sprucing up in particular- have a slightly dated feel. Rooms are decent enough and a good size. Excellent gym which is free to use.
