Luckily only booked for one night as I was passing through, as others have mentioned the hotel is in dire need of renovation, and could do with better cleaning

Based on the price it was ideal as all I wanted was to break a long journey for a few hours sleep. Everything was clean. The furnishings are dated but then you can't have both plush decor and a low price. I did hate having to wade through cigarette smoke and vape clouds to get into the hotel. Why do guests congregate around entrances to pursue these disgusting habits.

The GPS will put you out on the main street and there will a large hill where you think it is supposed to be. It is on top of the hill so go up and to the right to find the check-in area. The room was adequate and okay for the price. The bathroom was not very clean and the room was outdated but again, it was a good price so you get what you pay for. I can't recommend it because of the overpowering smell of fecal matter when you first walk into the building. The restaurant/bar area was next to it but there was no way I was going to eat or drink there. The smell was confined to the front area but still. Nice staff.

Could not beat it for value for money however, the parking meter in the car park says pay before you go in . So we did but on entering you are told residents are free . The receptionist says they should put a notice up . But they don’t .. I paid twice for breakfast.. partly my fault. The receptionist could not do a refund . Was told I could wait for the manager tomorrow or redeem it in the dinning room if having dinner. We did go for dinner but there were only tall chairs and tables available which I could not use ( or anyone else as all the adequate table and chairs were being used) There was a full breakfast area free to sit at but we were told we couldn’t sit there the staff member wouldn’t be allowed to let us . We had to leave. I couldn’t get the refund in the morning when we left but the receptionist called the manager who said she could not do it today but she would call me tomorrow. She didn’t, when I called the hotel I was told oh she can’t do it today she won’t be back in till Tuesday. She might call you then .. It’s not the money I’m angry about it’s the lack of staff support and the missing managers that I find a disgrace. The parking is obviously an ongoing problem but putting a notice up or even on the web site is too difficult. The staff I spoke to were very nice but the lack of managers on site is obviously problematic. I will see what Tuesday brings for a refund but I am not hopeful. Please be aware of what you are paying for when booking..

The only reason to choose it is because it's cheap, but all we wanted was a bed for the night to break the journey from north of Scotland to South coast. Arrived at 9pm, left at 8:30am, straight after basic but perfectly adequate cooked breakfast. Run down appearance, looks like it was the equivalent of a Travelodge that was decommissioned but still operating as a hotel. The morning receptionist was friendly and helpful. Parking free. Not somewhere to stay with children or as a treat in anyway, but if you just want very cheap accommodation to break a journey, it was fine.

The hotel staff failed to validate my car parking with the car park management company, resulting in me receiving a penalty charge. I spoke with reception who took my details and assured me that the general manager would deal with it. Two weeks later i received a final demand, so the GM had clearly failed to do so. Multiple more calls were made, each time i was told that the GM had been emailed with a request to confirm he had contacted the parking company. I received no response. The situation is still unresolved and i am being threatened with debt collectors and court action. Before booking this hotel, ask yourself whether a cheap night's accommodation is worth so much stress.

Great hotel, a little run down, but clean and friendly and helpful (but over worked) staff. Excellent breakfast! Parking is free, but crowded.

Decent hotel, just a short walk from the main town center. Close to local bike routes too. The room was okay, and was clean, but the bed mattress was a little old, and sunken.
