Receptionist last night was incompetent and appalling. At 10pm at night, 5 minutes after I had arrived in my room and was settling in, he knocked on my door and suggested that I should move to another room “because of an issue” with the room I was in. I reluctantly agreed, and he moved me to another room a few doors down. “It even has a bath” he said excitedly. When I expressed reservations and said that I really preferred a shower, like I had in the previous room, he stated that I would have to return to reception with him so he could look to see else what he could find (not such a short distance, and with my overnight bag). Back at reception, he suggested that he could put me in a ground floor “if I would mind that”. He sounded negative about the room, so I asked if it would be noisy. He said that it wouldn’t, but I might want to take a look. I asked, why - would it be any different to the original room? At this point, he confessed the room wasn’t as nice - and then suggested that I should return to my original room, but he would put a message on the system for his colleague. I have no idea what all this was about, but it was all extremely weird and reminded me of something out of Fawlty Towers. Suffice to say, I didn’t feel particularly safe in the room and had a terrible night’s sleep (it was also too hot). I will not be returning.

Everything brilliant.

We had a brilliant stay at Hinsley Hall and will definitely return. All staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Enjoyed the grounds and the shared areas where tea and coffee were available. Thank you.

The single room was large and ensuite and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was among the best buffet-style ones I have ever had. I shall definitely return to stay in the future

Basic but functional and good value

Good parking area and lovely grounds. A nice place to stay close to the city. Excellent value for money.

Dated furniture and decor. Room was comfortable and clean. Very quiet, you wouldn't think you were only yards from a main road. Ample car parking. Bus stop just outside main gate with plenty of buses into city centre. Breakfast was excellent.

Great place to stay if you need to be close to the University. Staff is generally friendly and helpful, but mattresses could be improved by installing mattress toppers.

I stay there most weeks as i have to go to Leeds for work. I like the location and most staff members. However I feel their mattresses would benefit from the installation of mattress toppers as they are spring mattresses and some would require to be changed. Dusting in rooms could also be improved.
