An interesting mix of comfortable, quaint, shabby chic and just plain shabby makes this cottage challenging to review! Overall, I was disappointed and felt that getting a few minor repairs done and providing better quality towels and bed linen would have made all the difference. On the plus side, it’s in a pretty village very near to the National Trust property of Oxborough Hall and has plenty of space for a couple or a small family, including a small garden. I stayed in March during a cold spell and found it quite chilly although a wood burning stove is available. The back bedroom with two single beds was adequately furnished with nice bedding and clean bed linen. Unfortunately, the double bedroom had bedding which appeared very worn and crumpled, hopefully from a tumble dryer and not from use! I did raise the issue in the “first night review” and received a call several days later offering fresh linen, but by then I had made my own arrangements for clean bedding. The carpet and downstairs blinds are lovely, adding to the cosiness, but minor issues with blinds upstairs (didn’t close properly) oven (irritating loud clicking whole time) and a wobbly back door knob (I want to feel secure when travelling!) spoiled what could otherwise be a beautiful little place.

I was staying as a base for work. A lovely cottage with everything you would need plus peace and quiet.

A very cosy country cottage with a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable spacious sitting room with good sized sofas to lounge on. Separate seated dining area made meals very cosy. the spacious bedrooms have quality bedding and tranquil decor offering peaceful nights of sleep. The local pub serves a very good menu. Walking is literally on the doorstep. Communication was excellent and the welcome milk, bread, biscuits left in the kitchen were great to find. The lounge lights were left on to welcome our arrival along with wood for the fire and a beautiful jug of fresh roses. This was a lovely touch. It was good to have a bath room as well a second toilet when there is a small group. The only minor negative was that the seal on the oven needs some attention, as well as the shower head in the bathroom. These weren't particularly a problem for us, but these will need replacing to make things perfect.
