I specifically booked this hotel because it has a lift and my mum cannot do stairs. We were attending a special family celebration and wanted to stay the night to make a weekend of it. When we arrived at the hotel, the lift was broken - the steps to the first floor were exceedingly steep and narrow - my poor mum was absolutely unable to climb them. There were no ground floor rooms available so we had to cancel the booking and are going through the Expedia complaints process to get a refund. The guy on reception was fantastic and very helpful but in the end could do nothing. Expedia couldn't find us another suitable hotel so my poor mum had to go home and we were unable to have the lovely relaxed weekend we had hoped. I do believe it should be incumbent upon hotels that have such fundamental failures such as broken lifts to notify upcoming bookings so that alternative arrangements can be made.

Beach view. Clean room, good 3star hotel. Lift to my top floor room wasn’t working, but for 1night wasn’t an issue for me

Everything was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, I slept well, the staff were friendly and helpful and I was also happy with the price I paid for my room. I would stay here again if I needed to stay in Eastbourne.

This is a cheap and cheerful hotel so expect to get exactly what you pay for which is a comfy bed and bathroom facilities. UHT milk on both nights was off so couldn’t have morning cuppa, no cold water as it was running warm, could turn shower on but had a fight to turn it off!! Best part an unidentified fire alarm at 5.45am on first night. Would I stay here again definitely not !!

Ok for a few days. The hotel is basic but this is reflected in the price.

Location is perfect for the beach and walking distance to restaurants. Parking is horendous. The lift didn't work when we visited, which was not ideal for 4 people with health and mobility issues, we were on the 2nd floor. The staires are quite rickety and winding. There wasn't air conditioning, but they did provide a fan. Our toilet seat was broken, we did report it, but was told it was a bank holiday weekend so nothing could be done. The staff we spoke to were lovely. All in all,you get what you pay for. It could do with updating alot as I noted alot of flaking paint and water damage. Would I come to Eastbourne again, yes, this hotel, no.

Nice Seaview from the room and very large bed which was a bit soft for our liking. Separate toilet and shower room with no shower gel or hand wash in either 🤔. No restaurant in the hotel so no breakfast 🙃 but staff were helpful.

The property is ideal for travellers who love the beach for the early morning swim. It does not offer food or the bar as advertised. The staff have a good attitude the building itself is cold and you need a dressing gown and a blanket packed. The parking is paid in advance and the people guests are not friendly. I would stay there again but I will know what to bring with me.

I was disappointed with the room, the one I chose from the photos online was definitely not to the same standard. It was much smaller, I didn’t have a table and chairs (as shown in photos) I booked a double room with sea view, the bathroom, windows, door and walls were very tired and the work that had been done was not very well finished. Needed to buy my own bottled water for kettle as the tap water tasted awful. The lift was out of order, when I looked online it said they did breakfast, when I asked in the morning they said they don’t do breakfast at the hotel. The staff were pleasant, but it is a very basic hotel and the price I paid didn’t reflect what was advertised.

It was nothing more than ok. Very basic room which was very tight on space in the toilet and bathroom areas. Water in shower and sink was tepid at best which is really disappointing what you want a hot shower. Wouldn't choose to stay again based on this stay

Always welcoming and a properly staffed reception. Lovely rooms at the front. Stocked bar with a very handy pizza & beer offer for £12. Quality linens in the rooms. Unrestricted parking 50yds away. The Strand has become my 'go to' for Eastbourne and I usually stay there twice a month (having tried 7 or 8 other hotels along the strip).

I had a very pleasant stay overall. The hotel staff were exceptionally courteous and welcoming, which I greatly appreciated. The only concern was the level of noise during the night, which did impact the quality of rest. Aside from this, my experience was highly positive.

We used this a base for the beachyhead marathon. Was perfect for our needs. No lift though so expect to be tackling multiple flights of stairs through the labyrinthine property. It was very reasonably priced for location. Though that does translate to the amenities, but if you are looking for a short stay budget option with a bar open 24 hours for guests and 24 acess to pizza, its a great shout and will save you a few quid. Its about 5 or 10 minutes from some excellent local pubs. Though finding parking will be a struggle, but thats the burnden of staying on the grand parade.

The whole experience was awesome. But lift needs restoration. Room was clean. The staff were brill! The Bar was something else!!!!

Absolute disgrace, we booked and paid for our stay in March through Expedia. We turned up and were told the HOTEL had cancelled our booking in April. They had not informed Expedia or ourselves or given us our money back! Expedia refunded us quickly after contacting the hotel AVOID!

Very friendly helpful staff. No parking at hotel but easy to park in a nearby side road. Very convenient for the town and surrounding areas so we didn't need to use the car for the 4 days we stayed.
