For the price and location, I give the MayaB 5 stars. It is in no way any type of luxury hotel. Three floors, narrow stairs, no elevator. But it was clean and comfortable, albeit sparsely furnished. There was an in room refrigerator, which worked well. The King Size bed was comfortable, but the bed linens were a bit worn. The rooftop pool was small, with no place to lay out on the pool deck, as the pool was raised above the main level. There were lounge chairs and seating at tables with umbrellas on the main deck, which was below pool level, Overall, it was adequate for our needs, as long as you aren’t looking for a luxury hotel.

room was definitely not like the pictures, sheets and towels were all stained and the front desk was no help we had to walk to the oxxo to buy more toilet paper. However - it’s right on 5th avenue and close to eveything and the AC worked great so it did the job.

Super convenient to go and walk around, but there was no parking anywhere near and nothing is marked or has signs. The bed was clean thankfully the rest of the room wasn’t. The bathroom was full of mould and was dirty. There was hair all over the floor and in the shower. I got what I paid for and had a wonderful time and a safe spot to sleep

Receptionist is rude and not interested in guest services. I arrived early and without a hello or anything she snapped “check in is at 3”, I said I know but wondering if there is somewhere I can store my bag. She said No, come back at 3. When I came back at 3, again no greeting just said I need your ID, go to the 2nd floor. Later I saw a bulletin on her office door offering luggage storage, but she didn’t share that info. The pool loungers were covered in bird poop and pile of garbage in the corner of the deck. The cleaning people were very nice. The room was fine and a decent price.

Consider this place a "free reign" place to stay....kinda like an Air BnB or something. No real staff available for help or cleaning but it's steps from the beach, the action on 5th and the city of Playa del Carmen. Keep aware of your surroundings because there's no extra security but it's fine if you keep your wits about you.

The room was dark and in a really bad condition, the bed sheets and pillow cases are very old and stained. The bathroom smelled terrible and no ventilation. The hotel doesn't have an elevator and the stairs are very narrow and slippery. We only stayed there for one night. I do not recommend it.

The room was spotless and in the best location for the best price!

Excellent location with everything around and 1 minute walk distance to the very beautiful beach

We booked a family suite as it was 2 adults and one child as Expedia says 16 years old is still a child. When we came to book in the female told us she was not a child and it’s only a room for 2 people. I don’t know if it is a screw up with Expedia or them but it was not as I was trying to make them lose money, I paid for the extra person and pictures on the site showed 2 beds.She was very rude to us kept telling me no. Eventually she rolled her eyes and just handed me the keys. One of us had to sleep on the floor. The male at reception was very nice though. Always greeted us and lots of smiles. The room was great, hot water lots of water pressure and very clean. Great view of 5th ave and only noisy till about 11:45 from nearby bars. I would only book this as 2 people per room to avoid the bad experience checking in because this was actually a lovely place to stay.

Good value for money. It is obviously not a resort, but there are far worse places that are masquerading as resorts and are worse than Mayab

Location, location, location! Price, price, price! Air conditioner and WiFi worked fine. Never saw the private beach that was advertised.

My fault I did not check for an elevator and my and i are 69 and 70 years old and could not do the steps. We stayed one night and moved to another hotel. Room was clean, but small.

I travel to playa del Carmen every year and this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. This property needs BIG remodeling, nothing is being maintained in good condition. Don’t believe any of the pictures the property posts. The room and stairs are in horrible conditions the bathroom has a terrible smell of sewer.

Perfect location! Easily accessible and trustworthy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only cold water in the shower, but that's perfect for the hot weather. I would come back here :)

Expensive , old and dirty

It was a decent place for that price. Literally close to everything I loved everything about stay. Shower head was amazing. Bathroom sink needs fixing but overall I will deff book again. Excellent location for those who don’t drive access to everything tours, beaches FOOD. Amazing.
