The hotel met the basic need of providing a place to sleep, but I would choose somewhere else if I stay in Merritt again.
At check-in, one of the front desk staff spoke so quietly that it was very difficult to understand her. The lobby and stairwells had a very strong stale curry smell throughout our entire stay. Thankfully, the odor didn't carry into the room.
The room itself was okay. The air conditioning was cranked right up before we arrived so we had to trun down, but it worked very well, which was appreciated. However, the layout was awkward, with less than a foot of space between the end of the bed and the desk, so we were constantly hitting our shins. The pillows were unusually small—about half the size of a standard pillow—and not very comfortable.
The toilet leaned noticeably, and there were silverfish in the bathroom, which was unpleasant. Parking was also an issue, as there didn't seem to be enough stalls for all the guests during our stay. If you need ice, you'll also have to walk down to the restaurant to get it.
Overall, it was an acceptable stay, but there were enough issues that I wouldn't book this hotel again.
