Guesthouse of Alcobaça

Good location, close to multiple dining options. The room was clean, well setup. Included breakfast is simple buffet style but convenient. Overall, very good value for the money.

Nice hotel with a character and a very helpful owner. Great location for visiting Alcobaça and surrounding areas. Nazare is a 15 minute drive away.

My first comment to the owner was "what a great location". Room was large very clean and came with great amenities like microwave. Very welcoming host.

This guesthouse surprised us with a Hostel sign out front but our room was hotel style. Breakfast was good, everything was fresh. Staff was friendly and helpful. The parking was tight but good enough for us. Street parking is also available closer to the monastery. The monastery and the downtown was a short 5 minute walk. Location would be hard to beat. I always ask myself and travel companions, “would we stay here again?” Yes.

Room is quite small & bathroom very compact. Steep steps are challenging but as the property is old it is acceptable. As this property is in remote and small village place availability of food & utensils 24 hours would be great.

The Hostel provides good budget accommodation. A good location near the town centre, on a road out of town. Very friendly and informative manager who keeps the place in good order. Very adequate (if unexciting) breakfast, with good coffee. Secure on-site parking. There is a nice shaded seating area, as well as a jacuzzi. We enjoyed exploring the area (nature park and coast), as well as a castle and huge monastery in the town.

Great Location

I cant remember a worst experience. Authorities should close this establishment down. Owner needs a lot of study to be allowed to run the simpliest means of hospitality. There was nobody at the place when we arrived. We called the owner and he was on vacation and unaware of our reservation. We had to wait about an hour in the middle of the sidewalk and in the cold weather until he arrived. Then he went to look for the reservation and, surprisingly, he found it. But then the room wasnt ready. He travelled and left the room not ready. The whole hotel seemed like a dirty refrigerator, so cold, humid and not smelling well. When the room was finaly ready (so to speak), there was no hot water for a shower. We had to do it in another room. Our room was so cold and humid that a supplied heater was not enough. Two other guests told us that they are left with the keys and owner is rarely around. Breakfast, as the owner calls it, is a do it yourself old kitchen with products scattered in a small fridge and shelves. He said we could help ourselves but we did not have the stomach for it. As soon as we woke up early in the next morning, we left. Again, there was nobody around.

This hostel is more like B&B. It's very good value for money. Close to the monastery but a bit away from the bus terminal. The owner and the host were very welcoming. Very limited breakfast is provided.

Ligaram antes para saber o horáro de chegada e estavam à nossa espera no horário combinado. Atendimento muito acolhedor e, como havia disponibilidade de quartos ofereceram um upgrade sem qualquer custo. Acolhimento 5 estrelas.
