Strathallan Guest House

Good location.

Good basic room during the very busy Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Fringe Festival. Near bus stops out from central core which made it less expensive and more available. Staff gave us basic information, but would have been helpful to receive more tips about things we should know on how to navigate the city and getting back to the room. No food options in the immediate area.

I so wish I had better things to report as I am pretty easygoing in terms of travel. Main issues: 1. Room was not as advertised on the site- one bed not two. Host was not open to feedback to change the photo on the site- this is room 5. 2. Stain on the duvet. When reported the host appeared to doubt our observation until we literally showed him. 3. No breakfast- update site to reflect this although there were lots of biscuits treats and tea and coffee 4. Hot water was intermittent especially in the morning and the bathroom was very small. Good things- room was large and house is lovely. Short walk to Royal Mile and a lovely breakfast spot around the corner. Close to transportation and quiet. Just think the site should be updated and host could have been more welcoming.

The venue was conveniently located for access to the city. However the room, though immaculately presented, was way too small. The bathroom required gymnastic feats to use the washbasin, The bed was comfortable.

Room was quite large and with huge ceilings, the location was convenient for walking/buses/restaurants, quick early check in, water and biscuits refilled daily

Beautiful guest home, authentic features. Rooms on the small side, except the room for 3 was spacious. Beautiful crown moldings, wood staircase. Host carried my bag up the stairs, which was appreciated. Had issues with no hot water.

High ceilings and big room clean and tidy. Some good pubs locally nice vegan restaurant around the corner too.

This was such a beautiful little gem! My room had such ornate high celings and the decoration was unique and suited to the age of the building. It was clean and the room was kept stocked with hot drinks and biscuits.

Enjoyed our stay in this guest house. The area is a bit out of downtown but is walkable, and has a good selection of local restaurants and pubs to choose from. The rooms were clean and comfortable, however the road outside was a little noisy at night. Otherwise, a great stay for the price compared to everywhere else. The owner was very friendly when he checked us in. Thank you!

Very expensive for what it was, £390 for two nights room only in a small room and bathroom. No reception as advertised and no breakfast as sales website had you believe. I guess it was bank holiday and marathon weekend, but could of got a proper hotel for the money

Older place but great value for money. Clean, plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Very handy to busses into city, going every few minutes. Cafe, pubs and restaurants just a few minutes walk.

This is a lovely heritage property located only 20 minutes walk from the city centre. It's a busy street but that was OK and offered many options for dining, plus pubs and shops. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits were provided by our host and check-in was easy. If visiting Edinburgh in the future, we would definitely book this guest home again.

We had a lovely stay here! The owner is very kind & let us keep our rental car parked on the property after we checked out so we did not have to find street parking. It’s easy to walk to the city and very clean and cozy! Would stay here again.
