How does Villa Carlton get the rating it has? Our room did not have adequate heating as one old radiator did not work at all, and the other radiator barely worked. There was no coffee maker in the room. There was no refrigerator in the room. The noise level is high as the Villa Carlton is located on a busy street. The neighborhood is unsafe. The hotel locks it front entry at 8:00pm and guests must use a side entry. The first floor rooms have bars across all the windows. The breakfast is exaggerated as there is coffe, juice and day old pastries. The manager does not care as guests have already paid for their stay. In 4 years of traveling in Europe the Villa Carlton is the most overrated hotel we have ever stayed at. The ratings need to be current as the neighborhood is unsafe.

We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff when we checked-in (we were slightly early and they kindly stored our luggage until check-in time). The room was spacious and clean while the hotel was in very close proximity to the old town.

Wow. What a beautiful hotel. I have travelled the world on business and personal holidays. This is one of the most comfortable I have stayed in. The room I was in had a seating area to watch tv and a separate bedroom. Beautifully renovated. Walkable to the old town. Fabulous holiday!

Fantastic hotel with extremely comfortable beds and well maintained rooms. Service was excellent. Easily walkable from the train station and very central for walks to old town, bars/restaurants, and around the river.

Nice Property, waljing distance to majority of all sites. Staff provided excellent service. The breakfast just a roll , jam and coffee. Unfortunately it doesn’t open till 7:30am. It would be nice if they would provide hot water and coffee 24hrs. The reason I gave an average rating is because the housekeeper put our dirty towels on the bed and didn't provide new towels amd put a half of roll of toliet paper on the holder. Worsy housekeeping in all my travels.

A lovely hotel, about 10 mins walk from the train station and another 10 mins walk into the historic centre. Our room was nice and roomy and the staff friendly and helpful.

A lovely hotel in a convenient location. Easy walk to the station and along the river to the old town. Our room was well furnished and clean with a large walk in shower and comfortable bed. The staff were lovely, very efficient and friendly and provided helpful suggestions to make the most of our brief stay. A simple breakfast of coffee and croissants was provided. Everything was within walking distance, and the hotel was clean and quiet. Parking spaces were limited, so it’s first come, first served, and there is a daily parking fee.

Disappointing service, especially for a hotel rated 4 stars. I booked a room for my mum and her small dog. We specifically chose Villa Carlton because it claimed to have on-site parking and to be pet-friendly. After a long day of travel, my mum arrived to find no parking available, and the receptionist made no effort to help or suggest alternatives. She was completely left to fend for herself in an unfamiliar city. After searching unsuccessfully for street parking, she asked to park in the hotel’s delivery area just overnight. The receptionist responded with an eye-roll and unwelcoming attitude, and told her to be gone by 7 AM. When my mum asked if she could leave her keys so someone could move the car while she had breakfast (as is common in 4-5 hotels), the answer was just “no.” The hotel building itself is nice but if you’re expecting service to match the stars, you’ll be disappointed.

This was a great stay in many respects. Clean, nice quirky authenticity, awesome outdoor space, friendly staff. But the breakfast. NO! We ended up paying to eat at the Sheridan. Seriously, owners, this quaint lovely place deserves better!

Very friendly staff, great location, hotel with character, nice big shower, beautiful rooms, air conditioning. Will definitely be back!

No one overnight in the hotel front doors bolted after 10pm No food available in the evening. Breakfast was bread rolls snd jam we paid more for two nights at this hotel than we did at a superb hotel in vienna for 3 nights
