Good points: nice staff, good sized pool. Bed made each day. Nice courtyard area outside. Good sized room. Not so good: stained mattress in ‘ superior room and furniture that really needs replacing. Tea and coffee at breakfast was lukewarm at best. The showers in the pool area had to be held on as the water would only run for a few seconds. I understand about economy with water but it made it very difficult to shower properly. There was absolutely no information about the local area or nearby attractions in the room.

This is probably the best hotel we have stayed at for many years. From the moment we arrived at reception the staff were always on hand if you needed anything. Every member was courteous, friendly and professional, always checking if we needed anything to make our stay more pleasant. Our room was a Superior double and had a beautiful view and was cleaned everyday. There was a wide choice of foods on the menu, which was excellent and they have an amazing chef. We were there to attend a residential weekend where we sang at a concert on the Sunday afternoon, and even here the staff were on hand to ensure everything was provided in time. We managed to visit the hotel’s spa which is a must for anyone who chooses to stay at this hotel. Thank you to all staff.

Had a lovely stay. Really nice relaxing atmosphere and location. Limited menu, ordered steak. Wife ordered well done arrived rare. Retuned steak,came back full of fat. Mine was almost blue, ordered medium rare.They took off service charge for our dissatisfaction then tried to get it back at checkout. Lack of communication and refresher for chef needed. The bed in the supreme room was two mattresses together. The interior is tired and needs a lot of tlc. Staff were great, very attentive and professional. Wife really enjoyed her spa experience. For all this we will be returning and I would recommend.

Situated in a nice area. Lovely grounds. Room 21, 2 cracks in window glass, missing window handle, bedside lamps need replacing as looked battered, wardrobe door on left side door handle missing. This was reported to reception on arriving to the room.and a member of staff did come to the room and mentioned that they had not been informed of these issues by housekeeping. Room was tired in appearance but clean. Breakfast limited on choice of selection of hot food. Overall an average stay.

We arrived and looked stunning from the outside reception was lovely Then the hallway to the room was ripped and dirty The room carpet was stained and ripped and just looked dirty The bathroom was not the cleanest mould all around the bathroom For what they charge it was very overpriced and the drinks were extremely expensive The food in the bar was very basic and again over priced It said about making sure the shower curtain was in the bath before showering We never had a shower it had been taken off the wall Breakfast was ok but everything was just warm Was supposed to have been a treat away Could not wait to get home to a clean house Would we stay again NO

Historic property with lovely gardens and spa that guests can use. I had a nice meal in the bar in the evening. Breakfast, nice fruit salad and usual hot buffet. Tiny gripe, my bedroom was above the breakfast room and from.6.30 had rick ba

I am glad I went there but will not go back! The Staff were all delightful! Other than that: I slept badly because some of the guests slammed the front door a few times throughout the night and early morning! I could not open the windows to get air in because of a nest of birds right above it! The bed was too hard for my back! The bath was not completely clean! The few sautéed potatoes I had for breakfast were not hot and hard on the edges!

Beautiful grounds, tired room that requires refreshing. Helpful staff, made to feel unwanted in the pool whilst having an early swim due to “regular” pool users that were not hotel guests. Breakfast good, however I would not stay at hotel again due to it needing an update in the guest rooms.

Great location, quiet, old style hotel, friendly staff, tasty food. Nice spa, however the steam room wasn't working most of the time. The spa areas would benefit from a good clean-up. I would visit again.

Lovely hotel! Could be 5* if they could get the basics right.

Great picturesque location with fabulous staff and good food on offer for Breakfast in the Buffet - All worked ok but the place is looking tired with threadbare carpets in places, window catches missing and the sink in the bathroom needed repairs as it wasn't secure. Rooms could do with a fan in the hot weather

Nice relaxing pool area and sauna, good food , clean and tidy rooms and helpful stuff.. An over all pleasant experience.
