Stayed for one night in one of the standard double rooms. All the staff from check-in to check-out were friendly & helpful, the room itself was perfect (lots of space in the room, has a desk and tv, bed was comfy, shower was a lot bigger then we expected very modern, it had a small fridge and everything was clean). Restaurant & bar downstairs which was really good. Just remember there is no lift (which they state on the listing) if you come with heavy/lots of bags. This was no bother to us though as we knew this ahead of time.

Lovely venue, nice big room and bathroom. Comfy bed. Although bathroom big, quite a lot of wasted space and didn’t feel very homely. Fantastic toiletries and shower. Room warm, and option of small window being opened or fan which was very good but I struggled to stay asleep with it on. Bar and restaurant looked lovely, but we were at a wedding so didn’t get to try: when we got back at 10.45 that bar was already shut. Apparently bottle service to the room but this wasn’t offered.

Great staff, friendly, helpful & polite. Dining area and gardens are attractive and spacious. Our bedroom & ensuite were large and tastefully decorated. We had a lovely stay but there were a few things that would have made it excellent: the bedroom mirror was v dirty & smeared and the blind above the bed was broken, so couldn’t let more daylight into the room during the day. Also- would really like a loo brush to keep it clean!! The room rate isn’t cheap, so would expect higher standard of cleanliness & attention to detail for the price.

Very comfortable, excellent breakfast, helpful reception and enthusiastic young staff would suggest mentioning that the second floor is only accessible by two flights of narrow stairs - it is an old building but anyone with mobility problems might have difficulty

Great hotel with really nothing by way of competition anywhere in the area. Only thing to keep in mind is that for some reason the top floor rooms get really hot, even with the radiator turned off (we stayed in February last year, early March this year). So you need to have the windows open, and the road can be really busy and quite noisy. So we'd recommend asking for a room on the back of the hotel. Other than that, the staff are amazing, the food is great, the bathrooms are clean and modern and the bed and bed linens are comfy and high quality. Top marks!

You are advised that music will be playing as the rooms are above a bar. However you are not advised that this will continue until 11.45 on a Friday night and start at 07.45 on a Sunday morning ? Our stay was far from restful because of this and we wont visit again

One of the best hotels I have stayed in, in a long, long time. As soon as you stepped through the front door, you could feel the elegance, atmosphere and friendliness. The room was very well laid out, even upmarket packets of biscuits, plus a small bottle of milk in the fridge. From arriving to leaving, I honestly cannot fault anything. Top marks to all concerned.

First time staying at this hotel since the makeover. The room was spacious, large comfortable bed. Good size bathroom, supplied with complementary shampoo, conditioner etc. large bathroom towels. Tea/coffee making facilities. The only negative thing for me was the pillows, too soft.

Lovely staff and room. Bathroom is lovely but showers are leaking outside the bathroom. I think seal broken in shower but lovely hotel. I can't fault it. Free hot coffee leaving the hotel. Thanks

The bedroom was very nice. Our only complaint is that there was no drawer space at all. There was a large table which could have had a few drawers on one side.

There on Business so did not visit the area. However the hotel itself was very comfortable the restaurant was good value and quality and friendly staff
