We loved our room, and the castle state rooms and grounds were beautiful.

Beautiful property and great food and service in the library bar. Our room was in the annex buildings. Felt a little dated but perfectly fine for a couple of nights stay. Would come again.

The castle is a great place to stay but there appears to be a reduction in the theme of the hotel. Staff used to wear period costume which gave a great atmosphere to the bar area in particular. The room I had if I took the pictures from the walls I could have been anywhere. There was no theme of a castle other than the pictures. The restaurant menu was boring in comparison to the bar menu. The fish and chips in the bar was a great meal. Attention to detail in the restaurant is required. I was presented with a knife that had not been cleaned properly. When I asked the waitperson to change it there was no apology. Three times I had to ask for a pepper grinder as three times they were empty. The breakfast was very good, but communication regarding times was poor to start with. Eventually I got the times I wanted. Staff on the last day of my stay were excellent as I needed to leave early. A lovely stay, but a few small issues need to addressed.

Superb hotel, friendly staff, super clean and wonderful food. We booked a courtyard room, got upgraded to a castle room my husband and I were really made up. Our friends had a courtyard room and loved it both rooms had comfortable beds.

Lumley Castle is an amazing destination. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had an evening meal at the restaurant which was very enjoyable. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We felt like royalty. Put this place on your travel plans.

I can not recommend this place highly enough. Sheer luxury. The bed was so comfortable, we literally just sank into it. The bath was also amazing, much bigger than it appears in the photos. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were allowed to explore the castle as and when we liked. It is definitely worth paying the extra for breakfast, there was a continental breakfast buffet, with pastries, meats, cheese and fruits. After that you also get to order a cooked breakfast. Plenty of gluten free options, just ask and the staff will be more than happy to help. There was plenty of onsight parking, which is completely free. There was a bar open in the evening and an onsight restaurant, but we didnt use these so can not review them. They looked cosy as we walked past.

Difficult access to our castle room. Room dark due to curtains being on hooks because curtain pole was missing. Crack in bathroom basin which caused floor to be wet due to leak from basin. Some staff a little abrupt but mostly helpful.

We stayed in a courtyard view room and the room is in need of a good clean and upgrade. We reported that the light outside the bathroom was flashing and reported it to reception, asking them to fix it while we had dinner. On returning, we noticed that it hadn't been fixed so tried to use room phone to call them but it wasn't working. had to put lights out and just use the lamps which wasn't ideal. Evening meal was good and breakfast was lovely.

Expensive for a very basic hotel. I would choose a Premier Inn over this hotel any day (even if they were the same price). Yes, the outside of the hotel is very beautiful but in my mind it doesn't justify the price. The service was lack lustre and the room basic on my opinion.
