Simply the BEST hotel in Des Moines! The staff is INCREDIBLE and we’re SO hospitable to us despite a slight booking error which was quickly and graciously corrected!

The Des Lux is a beautiful hotel. Beds are comfy and spacious. The hotel bar is much better than most, craft cocktails. Lots of great dining/cocktail options within walking distance.

Beautifully maintained historical property. So elegant and stylish. The staff was incredibly helpful and responsive. Great location for dining and entertainment.

First time staying here and had a great stay. It was only for one night, but I was very satisfied. front desk staff were friendly. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Loved the high ceilings and tall headboard. Just a great ambiance, dark wood finishes. Only thing that didn’t mesh with the vibe was the tub/shower combination. Just seemed outdated for the rest of the room and bathroom. Otherwise, fantastic place to stay!

Beautiful hotel

The hotel was very unique in decor, reasonably priced, and parking was easy to navigate - even using the parking garage. It was less than half a mile walk to the farmer's market, and there were several breweries and restaurants also in walking distance. Staff was extremely friendly. Hotel was quiet...we never heard our neighbors. Highly recommend.

I’ve stayed here several times and it continues to be my favorite hotel in Des Moines. Exceptional ambiance, comfort, and customer service. The complimentary breakfast and workout area is an additional plus.

Very fun, funky hotel. Probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at in awhile. Staff were wonderful and helpful. I was initially concerned about street noise, but I ended up sleeping like a baby. Breakfast was good, with lots of options. I would stay here again, no hesitation.

We enjoyed our stay at Des Lux and will definitely be back next time we come through Des Moines. After completing RAGBRAI again we decided to treat ourselves and relax a bit before heading home. The whirlpool was amazing! Spacious and just the right temp. Lots of options for dining nearby. Be sure to stop by the bar and enjoy a cocktail with Sherry.

We always love the property and convenience. Quaint and quiet.

This hotel is always my go to... large, luxurious rooms, great bedding, bar, and outstanding breakfast included!
