First impression is great. then no instructions on how to lock your door if you leave your room once you use the code. No coffee cup near their new coffee machine Matress was terrible. But the room was great. loved the books.

The owner was very welcoming and accommodating when we arrived. The room was quite large and comfortable, but a bit worn. Room and bathroom were clean and functioned well. No TV in the room, but several shelves of books, so we didn't even miss it.

Perfect stay! We loved the record player, the room decor, and even the water pressure and soaps in the bathroom. Would definitely come back!

The Deer’s Head Inn is, as its name implies.. dead. The revitalization of this building needs serious work; the amenities are nonexistent, the air conditioning was completely out in our room during our stay, and the food was misleading. The overall saving grace could have been the food, but if you’re going to make fancy descriptions and great sounding dishes on your menu, then please ensure they do in fact taste just as phenomenal. Do better, chef! The experience as a whole was beyond pitiful, and let’s be honest, the room was stifling and extremely uncomfortable (e.g., the bed was not great, and there was no closet). However, a lover of music will enjoy the record player in the room. The shower pressure was great, but watch out for scalding hot sections to surprise you, and obviously the historical value of visiting such a place for history buffs is appealing. Altogether, not a great experience, and this will, of course, be a one time stay. Sad, just sad. This place is giving Urban Rustic a run for its money! Oof

Room was cold. Electric heater in room didn't work. No management on site so had to call about lack of heat. They sent someone over who took two electric heaters from other rooms and gave to me. They worked well

Definitely a cozy inn. Great location next to so many trails. Wasn't able to get dinner in their restaurant and bar downstairs but the menu and space looked good! Only downside, the bed was way too soft for my liking. Overall a good experience.

The room was nice and suited our needs. The staff downstairs in the restaurant were wonderful and helped us gain access to the inn and our room as it is a contactless checkin. We dined in the restaurant downstairs and had a fantastic meal.

The charm and history of the place makes up for what it lacks. It didn’t meet the standards of cleanliness and upkeep (dust bunnies on ceiling, sticky surfaces, the old style doorknob came off when I pulled on it to shut the door, the radiator was also noisy (air leak.. had to screw it shut a few times). The room needs a deep clean. BUT the sheets and linens were very clean and smelled good, and the bathroom and shower was great. We also enjoyed the records (thanks!). You have all that you need there, but you’re on your own. The place is managed remotely, meaning a minimum amount of work to keep it running—I get it. The coffee/tea station in the hallway was serviceable (I used the kettle since I brought my own aeropress)… didn’t bother trying to figure out their coffee machine. The bed with pillowtop is good for one but extremely squeaky for two, and very very soft. We were there the night the tavern was closed, but I’m sure their food is the best in the town. Thanks for the stay.

A wonderful atmosphere and pleasantly attentive staff! One of the most accommodating stays in the Adirondacks! This was my 3rd time there and seems to get better each time!

The room is in terrible condition. Floors, desk, tiles in bathroom, nearly every surface was sticky...bad. My wife thinks it's from what they clean with. Unknown. Sloped floors, dirty bathroom grout, no light in shower. Poor lighting in the bathroom. Old, old and needs updating. Bed was good. But the rest, blah. Oh and the doorknob fell off when we pulled it...pretty much sums it up.

Stayed here one night as part of a long trip, just another stopping point. Was excited to NOT be in a chain hotel and happy to experience a 200-year-old property. It really is like an antiquated inn in some ways -- no TV or hairdryer (but there was a mini-fridge). On the other hand, totally modern contact-less check-in and out. Actually kind of weirdly impersonal for such an intimate environment. I would have loved to have had a conversation with owners or otherwise learned more history of the place. Room was cute, spacious, and fun, clearly hipster-owned, bed very comfortable. The main draw is the restaurant, which was very good. Dogs stay free, a rare treat, and are welcome at restaurant on front porch, which has heat lamps, but wear layers as mountain nights are cool. It's definitely a nice find in the Adirondacks.

Easy check in. Room was comfortable and clean. Really liked the record player in the room. We did not have dinner this time, but the restaurant is quite popular and the food is always very nice.
