The Swiss Bel-hotel in Binondo was literally located in a poor, run-down area of China town, which when compared to many other Manila hotels, had poor taxi service. I used MOVE IT for transportation, as GRAB was unreliable.
The hotel was an older style hotel, with solid construction. The decor was well appointed, but there were internal flaws, with obvious ceiling water damage in some of the hallways leading to room accommodation.
The reviewed PREMIER room was almost faultless, but unfortunately the bar fridge was not functioning and was not replaced. The air-con worked well, the shower wasn’t as hot as would be expected in a hotel of comparable western standards.
As a guest, the staff were attentive, friendly and supportive. The breakfast menu was not to western taste or standard. My room was quiet and peaceful. I felt at home, given these few issues away from home.
Having experienced this hotel, I would still recommend it, given its location and few flaws, which could easily be addressed by management.
