BEWARE. Dishonest and misuse of personal information. Bad room.
Booked a standard queen room for 2 pax for 4 nights under my name(foreigner) but marked guest nationality as “Malaysian National” as we have planned for my local friend to do the checking in. They scanned my Malaysian friend’s IC for registration and took 50rm room deposit from us.
Upon checking out, only 10rm was returned, claiming that 40rm was charged as tourism tax(10rm/night).
1)I did not provide my passport information during this stay but they searched up my previous record(this is my 2nd stay) and used it WITHOUT my consent/knowledge
2)They claimed that they must charge me as they already used my record and put it into the system. If as such, why scanned my friend’s I/C from the start??
3)I did NOT agree for the room deposit money to be used as tax tourism payment. During my first solo stay, the staff did ask before he collected it and I gladly agreed. However, nothing was mentioned this time and I gave the money solely intended for room deposit, not for the staff to conveniently charge me for other things.
This is absolutely ridiculous and may I add on - illegal. I checked out alone as my friend had to leave earlier so I definitely felt helpless and bullied in that situation. As I was rushing to catch my flight, I could only let it go after 5 mins of disputing but what worries me is their dishonesty and the misusing of guests’ information freely without consent just for monetary gains. PLEASE BEWARE.
Room was bad too with stained sheets, faulty tap(kept leaking unless positioned at a specific angle), broken toilet shelf with a certain smell in the room in which we had to buy a fabric deodorant to manage. We checked in at 3.30pm, after official checking in time, to find all the above and no toilet paper in the toilet. We still made do with all the flaws as this is a budget hotel. However, this unfair treatment is absolutely unacceptable.
