I got the special deluxe room because they said they were sold out of the others. At first I was excited cause it had a window but the road noise was ridiculously loud and it was right next to the bathroom so I could hear every time someone brushed their teeth and the lights and exit sign were very bright.

Location The location was excellent—within a five-minute walk of a metro station with multiple lines, and surrounded by many shops and restaurants. Personally, I appreciated that there was a laundry nearby, which was very convenient. Staff Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the housekeeping staff kept the shared bathrooms and showers clean. However, my own room was not cleaned and my amenities were not replaced during my stay, which was disappointing. Because of that, I had to use my personal towel since no fresh one was provided. Room The hotel has four floors and no elevator. Each capsule-style room is extremely small, designed for solo travelers, so anyone with large luggage might struggle. The space is about the size of standing room, a small sitting space, and a single bed in a 1:1:2 ratio. For organizing my luggage I used the net above the bed, even though it was dusty. In fact, the entire property felt dusty, and I suffered from sneezing and a runny nose during my stay. The rooms are only separated by partitions, with open space at the top, so sound carries easily and guests must be very quiet. I used a hair dryer in my room and could hear others, but surprisingly no one complained—so I wondered how other guests managed. Overall Experience While I listed many downsides, overall my impression is average. Considering it’s New York, I accepted the high price, but the value for money felt lacking compared to the level of comfort and service provided.

Nice clean and perfect location! The only thing is that at night you can hear EVERYTHING. Not because people are noise, but because doors don’t close properly unless you slam them. That was really annoying.

Have stayed in “capsule style” hotels in Europe etc. Toilets have no sinks to wash your hands. Communal sinks can be 25 feet from toilets and don’t have room for more than 3 people to use at once. Single paper towel dispenser and garbage makes it awkward.

The sheets and bed are surprising so comfy!! Small but this really makes it cozy and comfortable for a short stay. My towel had a stain on it but nothing crazy. Would come again if solo!

Overall stay was great and would definitely recommend to friends and stay here again. Areas like the toilets were challenging as the flush isn't very strong so often times I'd go to the loo and see it hasn't been properly flushed - not the best! Some residents didn't respect the noise/shared space and this was quite inconsiderate and challenging at times. Otherwise I love the decor and amenities and looking forward to next visit!

I thought I had it in me to stay here but the size isn't the issue. There is just 0 sound proofing and you will be woken up by slamming doors and lights as there is no separation from other rooms above a 7 ft wall.

The rooms do not have ceilings and so you do hear everything going on in the other rooms (and when anyone goes to the bathroom in the night). The toilet was broken on my floor (there is only one toilet, one sink and one shower per floor, so that is quite a lot of people trying to use it) and so this made it especially loud. It was carefully thought out and they did try to mitigate the noise somewhat. The beds are quite short if you are tall.

So convenient to check in and stay here. The most comfortable bed ever. Just enough personal space. Loved the sound machine and robe. Very clean and felt very private.

Fantastic location! The property is unique and I like the idea of getting a more affordable room for solo travelers in NYC. I also got to check in early after a redeye flight which was terrific. That said, I didn’t see anywhere in the booking information that the rooms don’t have a ceiling and are open to all the noise of the hallways/ other guests. I’ve stayed at a similar style hotel with small rooms and shared facilities, however those rooms actually had full walls that connected with the ceiling. The NowNow Noho has slatted partial ceilings and walls that do not go all the way to the ceiling. Unless you get lucky and have a nearly empty floor or very quiet floor mates, you will be constantly disturbed with doors opening and closing.Definitely glad I tried it once, but for the price, I’m not sure I’d stay again.

Overall my stay was good, but it should be noted when booking that you do not have a ceiling in your room and it’s open the rest of the floor. There are also no handwashing sinks in the bathroom.

To be clear: this is a hostel that provides the bare minimum in terms of service, comfort, and privacy. It's the Spirit Airlines of Manhattan stays, with better branding. If you're okay with this or if you get a steal of a price, have at it! Especially if you're young! Otherwise, spend a bit more for a standard hotel experience. Also: there is no elevator. Would have been a dealbreaker if I had known.
