Establishment Hotel

Great location. Lovely old building and big room.

We have stayed here a number of times and we cannot fault the team at The Establishment. It’s certainly a favourite of ours in Sydney. Thank you for making our stay so memorable yet again.

Excellent property and would be even better if they had noise control or insulation in walls and windows so you don’t hear everything.

Amazing staff, could not ask for a better location in the city, surrounded by phenomenal bars and restaurants. Our corner room was very noisy, could hear all the street noise and everything from the hallway and adjacent rooms. Would definitely stay again

Nicely furnished room with an excellent mini bar and sound system. Quite noisy as rooms are not sound proofed. Problematic hot water as takes about 3 mins to get hot and not much pressure. Nice bathtub but took too long to fill so could not use it. Mattress was a bit past its prime and the flashing smoke alarm was mounted directly above the bed so was annoying while trying to sleep. Woke at 7am on Saturday morning to the sound of a jackhammer in the laneway...but this was not the hotel's fault apart from the non soundproofed windows.

Very sophisticated hotel in the restaurant precinct. Staff really lovely. Breakfast delicious (in room dining). Bar on site. They gave us champagne on arrival because it was our wedding anniversary. Absolutely loved it. Will return.

Unusual and interesting boutique vibes, liked the Palmer and Co bar and Kid Kyoto restaurant being basically next door. Some street noise audible on a Saturday night but earplugs provided if you need them. Endearingly oddball selection of free movies on the telly.

Great boutique hotel in vibrant location. Super bar and club attached (no sound issue), eclectic common areas with large, comfortable rooms and furnishings. Walk to the Rocks, Opera House, trains and ferries.

This hotel was convenient and centrally located. Several eating and coffee options. Plus close to the ferries.

Loved the vibe and style of this hotel, breakfast was nice and high quality, our only issue was that if our next-door neighbor closed doors or talked you could hear. and since our room view was a company office, their commute in and out of offices at night could interrupt our sleep

It was clear this used to be a lovely hotel, but it seems it has been badly neglected. Chipped bathroom tiles that could easily be repaired, rusted bathroom ware, doors don’t close, light swtiches worn and don’t work. There were spiders on the bed and seriously noisy neighbourhood with a loud club next door that played loud music until 2am, and after that the noises from delivery trucks and people preparing in nearby restaurants. We wanted to change hotels in the middle of the night as we were not able to sleep at all due to the noise and fear of more spiders that might crawl in bed again. Such a shame and disgust for a Merivale hotel which is supposed to be a 5-start hotel. I think they should shut down and renovate as they are misleading guests. To add to the bad experience, access to the hotel reception was hard to find. There should be proper access from the bar off George St or at least signs from George St leading to Bridge Lane. We checked in on a Sunday and the Est Bar was closed and we struggled to find the hotel lobby looking for signs from the Est Bar door but there was none! I gave my feedback to the reception staff, they apologised and said the next time I come back they will put me in higher floors. Note this is a low rise building and the only you won’t hear that noise is if you were on level 20 or higher! Absolutely lacking sufficient comprehension of the severity of the problem and our experience. Not good enough Merivale!

Spacious. Comfortable bed. Great for transport and a good choice of restaurants nearby.

First the not so good stuff. At first it was a little bit hard to find the entry to the hotel lobby, need to go down an ally/lane. Definitely needs more signs and a sign at the lobby door. The room we got had thin walls, we could hear the people in our neighboring rooms talking, and also a bit of music from a bar or night club. The room itself was a bit outdated, could use a lift up. The lighting system can be a bit confusing, but once you memorised the buttons it wasn't too bad. Now the good stuff, The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has a nice old rustic feel to it, very moody. Hotel has direct access to 2 of the attached bars. And of course location wise, you can walk 5 minutes to anywhere, restaurant, bars, train stations, Circular Quay, and there's a light rail station next to the building.

The property is quite lovely. Very spacious room and bathroom. Very conveniently located to lots of nearby amenities, and neither light rail and circular quay. The staff were incredibly kind and very helpful. There was nothing there would not do. The only problem I had was that the Property is quite noisy, I could hear people coming and going down the hallway as of the evening and early in the morning, and opening of other hotel room doors. Sound seems to carry/ Reverberate under the door. I would say the property is more 4* in quality rather than 5*.

A somewhat hidden hotel affiliated under their restaurant/bar/club empire mainly in Sydney area. The staff was absolutely wonderful, sweet and friendly however the accommodation needs a facelift badly. It was cool during y2k.

The Establishment Hotel is located in a fabulous part of Sydney close to many restaurants and pubs. Short walk to Circular Quay and Darling Harbor:) We loved it.
