On day of arrival and also during the stay the reception and restaurant staff was amazing. We booked the stay based on how we were spoken over the phone when contacting the propery prior for some details. Spa facilities clean and fully working, cannot mention a negative comment about the property.

Just a lovely stay in a wonderful relaxing place. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient beyond expectations. Our room was beautifully appointed. I'd recommend booking a ground-floor room if possible; there is no elevator and the staircases are narrow and twisty, not to the point of being dangerous or anything, but for a couple in our 70s, we needed some help getting our luggage up and down stairs. The included breakfast is several steps above the waffle-machine-and-day-old-eggs offered so often in hotels of this caliber - many choices and fresh-cooked items served in an elegant setting. The dinner menu in the restaurant is limited to five or six choices but everything we ordered was well-prepared and nicely presented. The grounds are strollable and well kept. Don't plan on a lot of night life or excitement in Sittingbourne; Canterbury is a 25 minute drive away, though, and well worth the time. I recommend Hempstead House to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in a beautiful setting with first-rate service.

Fantastic hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. The big attraction is the spa and pool which is a good size and no need or book a time to use. We stayed in a delux room which was very clean and comfortable. Shower could have been replaced with a more modern rainfall as not intuitive to use. The restaurant has a limited menu and the service was a little slow but the quality of the food was very good and the breakfast was excellent . There are many local pubs to choose from as an alternative for dinner. The hotel is used for weddings and special occasions so can be a little noisy at night. Occasions. The outside pool is small but appropriate for the location. Note not all rooms have a/c so recommend check before you book if important. This is a lovely country hotel with a great indoor pool, would recommend for a short stay. We have rated 5 stars.

We booked Hempstead House for a relaxing night away, but instead spent the evening listening to a wedding reception directly beneath our room. The loud music, guests partying in the courtyard and noise from people returning to their rooms meant we had a very poor night’s sleep. I completely understand that weddings are an important part of the hotel’s business, and I have no issue with the wedding itself. What I do object to is being allocated a room overlooking the reception when we were not part of the wedding. If I wanted loud music, people partying until late, I could have booked a hotel in central London for far less. To make matters worse, when I raised the issue with reception, the initial response was defensive rather than apologetic. I was told that the hotel does not inform guests in advance if a wedding is taking place. For a hotel that markets itself as a relaxing country house and spa, I think guests should either be told before they arrive or allocated a quieter room away from the event. The hotel itself is attractive, but the whole purpose of our stay was to relax. Instead, I’m going home more exhausted than when I arrived. This experience completely defeated the purpose of our night away, and I wouldn’t book again unless I had a guarantee of a room well away from any wedding or function.

Lovely, personable staff who made the stay perfect for us and were always happy to help. Spa was very nice and outdoor plunge pool essential to survive the heatwave! We also had massages which were nice and relaxing (I fell asleep twice) Would definitely recommend

Nice hotel, an older building with a more modern extension. Professional friendly and service oriented staff everywhere. We just had an anniversary night away and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dinner was excellent and well served and waited on. Our bedroom wasn’t air conditioned and that would have been a bonus as it was in the 30s outside, however the fan in the room was a life saver. Other rooms do have aircon so it’s worth asking.

Excellent check in and brief overview of the hotel and key areas. Good sized room and bathroom. Restaurant was fine, menu a little limited but the steak was good. Breakfast cooked to order and great quality. Staff at breakfast very pleasant. Didn’t use the Spa as I didn’t have time but it looked busy. Overall a great one night stay for the money and will definitely be back.

Everything from start to finish was superb. The welcome was happy and polite with even a little tour of the facilities. Not sure if we got an upgrade but the room (28) was massive with a jacuzzi bath and was very clean. Breakfast was lovely. Didn't have any treatments but used the facilities and can't fault it in any way. Would definitely recommend this place.

The location and property is beautiful and would highly recommend the restaurant. The staff where very kind and caring. The only comment is that property has a kids playground but looks like haven't been maintained for years. Unsafe and not clean. It's such a shame as it had all the right things to be great for children. Would have been great for it to be cleaned and a bench for patents. That would have given 5 starts on all.

Room was basic but clean. Staff helpful. Decent breakfast. Pool quite small and limited poolside chairs. Sauna room small. Jacuzzi was big and good pressure. Lakes restsurant had limited choice for vegetarian and no chicken or lamb dishes. Nothing nearby and the closest place to dine is Faversham.
