Hotel du Vin & Bistro York

Beautiful junior suite with freestanding bath and sizeable shower; very comfy bed. Excellent food in the restaurant.

Friendly, helpful staff, lovely room and great location.

I recently stayed at Hotel du Vin York and, to be fair, the stay itself was pleasant overall. The room was comfortable, the hotel has a nice atmosphere, and I paid for one of the top-tier rooms expecting a premium experience consistent with previous stays I’ve had not only here, but at other Hotel du Vin properties across the country. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by an issue involving my vehicle during the stay, which has since cost me more than £30 in car washes, over an hour of my own time trying to rectify, and the issue still has not been fully resolved. What disappointed me most was not necessarily the issue itself, but the complete lack of meaningful customer care afterwards. After explaining the situation politely and highlighting that I am a repeat customer of the brand, the response I received was essentially that there was “nothing they could do” and that they were pleased I had otherwise enjoyed my stay. That response felt dismissive and short-sighted given both the inconvenience caused and the loyalty I had shown to the brand over multiple stays. A small gesture of goodwill or even a more empathetic response would likely have been enough. It’s a shame because the hotel itself is good, but customer service is tested when something goes wrong — and in this case, I was left feeling completely unsupported. Sadly, because of how this was handled, I won’t be returning and will think twice before booking other Hotel du Vin locations in future.

Wonderful overnight stay, nice room and great breakfast

The night shift reception was not impressive! Someone who could not possibly put a smile on let alone being helpful. Location was decent and hotel was relatively clean given it's age. Did not have the breakfast there so cant comment on that. Bedding could also be a lot better for a 4-starred hotel

Lovely room, good thick curtains & towels, all nicely decorated. Good choices at breakfast. The staff were friendly & helpful. Plenty of parking. Good location - 10 min walk to City Walls & 20 mins to centre of York. Overall, a great stay & we would definitely stay there again.

Very helpful staff. Interesting room with shower and full bathtub on upper floor with staircase in the room.

Great weather as well. Good locality, nice quiet room with lashings of hot water.

There was no water throughout our stay which was very inconvenient

Staff were very good and friendly with our baby. Good range for breakfast. Room was a bit grubby with hairs in bath, mucky window sills, and a stained bed throw. Very noisy until 11pm due to a wedding in the venue.

Great location, spacious room and lovely food and wine. It was a return trip for us - our favourite place to stay in York.

Chose the laurent perriier suite. Was truly outstanding
