What Guests Say About Their Stay

The bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment, which wasnt a problem at all, the problem was we wernt informed of this in advance. We had been out all day and wanted a nice relaxing evening/dinner. Unfortunately we had to get in the car and go out again which was inconvenient as had we known in advance we would have eaten before we went to the hotel. Apart from this our stay was perfect, the room was so lovely and warm (it was -3°outside), the bath was lovely with lashings of hot water, beds were comfy and view was good.

Good value accomodation. Helpful staff, lovely view of the river. Would have preferred carpet on the floor, not distressed and uneven floorboards. Very comfortable bed. Basic but clean. Would stay here again.

This place was disgusting. I’ve never in my life seen suck a filthy run down dump in my life. You would be better staying in a dump yard. Holes in the doors and walls and floors were black, it was horrible. And the en-suite was black. I’ve never seen something so dirty in my life. How it is even possible to get in such a state. They advertise something on the website and it does not even look like the photos. False advertising. Staff are also rude and not helpful. This place should be shut down

"I cannot express how terrible my stay was. This place is an absolute dump. The bathroom was disgusting—it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months, and I was too afraid to even use the shower. Speaking of which, I couldn’t even have a shower in the morning because builders were walking around the property ridiculously early. The room itself felt like a funhouse; the floor was slanted, and to make it worse, the bed was slanted too, so I spent the whole night sliding off it. There were only two plugs in the entire room, which made charging devices a nightmare. I would not even recommend this hotel for a dog. Avoid at all costs."

The room was classed as superior the only thing superior was the leak that stained curtains yellow and they had been up a while why the hell would you put anyone in that room? Disgusting stain on one of the seats in the room. I have photographs to back up my allegations. No breakfast and clearly says breakfast on the booking page. On arrival we checked in at 2pm walked into and icebox window wide open 3 heaters supplied as well as two on the wall all on yet had to wear my hoodie to bed to get warm . I’ve stayed in the annex before but the hotel upstairs was not up to what we paid false advertising fair enough it’s having work done it was 2 years ago as well . As for room with a view scaffolding and flapping plastic. Asked for milk so we could have coffee to be told we’ve not had a delivery of milk we are still waiting. Someone from hotels.com needs to rate this hotel. Real life bates motel

This entire hotel felt neglected, old and warn our. As for "The Bar and Grill" part of the name ???? The first thing i was told is that there is no food but i can get food elivered via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Thanks for that. I know how food delivery services work. The paint on the walls in my room was flaking off, the curtains were heavily stained and the room temperature wasnt much better than the outside temperature (about 9°C at 5pm) There were 2 electric heaters already in the room when i arrived and another was collected from reception after i spent 3 hours in my room without taking my work coat or shows off because i was so cold. The place has scaffolding all over the outside as it is having some work being carried out. The worrying thing is by observing 2 workers spending about 90 minutes sanding the external serfaces of a window frame down, it doesnt look like they are preparing to replace the already drafty windows and probably just getting them ready for a re-paint. To summarise, I will not be staying at The Royal Hotel, (No) Bar and Grill again any time soon and I suggest anyone reading this looks for less dilapidated accommodation.

Hotel Is tired but that’s reflected in the price you pay for a room. Upon leaving I was handed a charge of £50 for smoking in the room. I don’t smoke and never have!!!! They claimed the room stank and it’s in their terms that they can take the money without your consent. Be very careful in this establishment I wouldn’t stay again an had to get a refund for the £50 from Expedia as the hotel staff refused, possible scam.

We waited about a hour trying to park, people had parked everywhere & asking for help nothing was done we had to park on such an odd place worrying about our car. We was sent across the road to what looked like an old crap block of flats, I could use some other words there, the whole outside was filth, the inside not much better, the paint was awful. The room was clean that was a good point & the bed looked clean & was comfy. Bathroom was cleaned but not (clean). Would NOT use again.

Not gonna lie, the floor was basically a crumb buffet, and the window? Yeah, cracked. Whole room felt like it was holding its breath—definitely screaming for some air con. Kinda annoying that if you want a bathtub, you’re stuck on the first or second floor in the second building. What’s up with that? The “cottage room” isn’t anything to write home about either. Just a shower cubicle, and honestly, you’d better not try squeezing in there with anyone else unless you want to get real close, real fast. Oh, and the bar? Hope you brought your wallet, ‘cause drinks are pricey. On the bright side, staff were super friendly and helpful. At least someone’s bringing their A-game.

The condition of the outside of the hotel was so poor with the scaffolding, we weren't going to eat there. The kitchen closed at 7 pm. There seemed to be no breakfast service. Very basic, my room was clean, and the bed comfortable and linen clean, but no pictures, very poor paint and fairly noisy. Definitely not going back I'm afraid.

So it wasn’t expensive for the London area… however, pictures weren’t the same as it looks online as the building it massively under construction. Parking is very debatable and was unsure about if I’d have wheels on my car when I came out in the morning, mainly because of the drunk and rowdy locals in the bar downstairs. The room itself was clean, but old and in need of upgrading - needs a new bathroom, carpets and a lick of paint. We went elsewhere for dinner, as it didn’t look appropriate for my 12 year old. Overall probably wouldn’t stay again, but as I said, it was cheap.
