Hotel Excelsior Ipoh

Hotel Excelsior is strategically located in Ipoh downtown and many well-regarded eateries are within walking distance. We always stay here just for this reason. Just imagine: directly opposite the hotel is the renowned Oversea Restaurant that offers the finest Cantonese cuisine. The rooms are spacious with a bright and cheery vibe. Seems like the hotel has gonr through recent refurbishment. Cost is also reasonable. A good place to stay at.

Good size good price. Rooms a bit overdue for some maintenance but it was comfy.

Ok hotel room, a bit dated though.

Only stayed one night, booked short notice and price wasn't high. The room itself was large, bathroom too was a good size with both a bath and shower. However if you look closely you can see quiet a few stains and dirty places. The lamps in the room need to be replaced asap, they are dirty and have a stains that look like mold all over them, they should be thrown away. There's a big gap under the door of the room, I could put my hand under it, not sure the reason for that but it made the room feel less secure. Another thing is the bathroom isn't the same height as the rest of the room, it's lower but it's not clearly marked by anything and a couple of times we forgot and tripped, we were ok but an older person might find it hazard as the step has no marking on it at all. We booked online with breakfast so went down for it in the morning, but the guy stopped us at the entrance and wouldn't believe us, i had to go online and show him my booking info/receipt and even after that we had to wait for him to go to reception and talk to them before we could get any breakfast, an unnecessary delay to our day. The breakfast buffet itself was good, we were the only guests there, plenty of veggie options, the fresh fruit was nice. The toiletries provided in the room were good quality, I especially liked the body/hand lotion. Overall we slept well, it's a bit rough around the edges but for the price it was fine and the location was good.

Near the famous Dim Sum restaurant -Foh San

I had to go through a lot of hoops to get the room I reserved. They said they could not find my reservation and then said they will upgrade me to a room with one king bed when I specifically requested for two beds. After one hour of waiting and arguing, I got a room with two beds. Then the toilet water was running. The maintenance guys came but did not fix the problem so we ended sleeping with the sound of running water.

Easy parking

Located in the town center, the hotel is convenient for walking access to most of the popular eateries and shops in the Ipoh town center.

I will recommend to friends.
