The location was perfect and walkable distance to Aksla viewpoint and Kongens Gate - the two major attractions within Alesund. The front desk was very helpful and they allowed us to check in hours early because we came well before the check in time.

Room with poor layout. Large bathroom meant for seniors requiring wheelchair and commode chair. Grab bars around toilet seat but bathroom lighting is motion detector controlled. Seniors may have to release grip on grab bars to generate motion when lights go off suddenly. Rest of room is made smaller relative to the large bathroom. Bed is tucked into corner under a sloping ceiling. Few clothes hanging fixtures. Room and furnishing looked dated. Would not stay here again nor recommend to friends.

Great hotel. A bit unfortunately our room was directly above the conference center where there was a wedding party going on until 2 in the morning that was very noticeable through the floor (we were staying at the second floor). The front desk was quite helpfull and offered airplugs, in addition to potentially change a room. However the alternative room was next to the wedding suite which they suspected would keep the party going, so left it up to us if we wanted to chance it. We needed up just staying in our original room with earplugs and ended up having a pretty good nights sleep, but be aware that the second floor in the new section could be right above the conference center, which might be noisy.

It was conveniently located close to the jetties for the fjord cruises. This was the main advantage. The staff were generally very nice and professional. The buffet breakfast was delicious. The room was quite comfortable. The view was quite good - large window facing the waterfront and mountains in the distance. I wish that there could have been more closet space - I cannot understand why there cannot be extra rods to hang clothes and towels - the room is after all quite spacious. The wallpaper in the bedroom should be changed to something more neutral and soothing (instead of this giant photo of a man and woman …..). The lobby area used to look more upmarket and classy 10 years or so ago - but this time it looked different, somewhat less refined and more like a pub.

Room was lovely and comfortable with views of the water. Beds were comfy. Bathroom clean. Restaurant was good but more pricey than other more exciting places in town. We were fairly disappointed with one relatively small aspect of our room. The power for tv and fridge was out. We had groceries from our travels and they ended up spoiled. It was such a waste! We had specifically told the front desk our fridge was *hot*, not just not cool. We were informed that it is a cooler not a refrigerator which was entirely incorrect as it was producing heat and the outlet was inaccessible to even unplug and maybe put some ice inside.

Hotel was in a beautifully restored turn of the 19th /20th century gray stone building with a very stylish 21st century interior in the lobby, the hallways, the restaurant and in the individual room. Eventhough I paid for standard room, we must have been upgraded to small suite as it had an amazing bathroom with bathtub and shower. The bed and linens were very comfortable; it was hard to get up early from the bed for early Fjord boat trip. There was a table with four chairs.

Alesund, Norway is absolutely picturesque! A Norwegian fairy tale of endless Fjords, majestic mountains and beauty beyond words. Our planned one night turned into three because we loved it so much! The scenic route from Geiranger to Trollstigen to see waterfalls, canyons, trolls & crystal clear glacier lakes is well worth the time—it’s a must to fully appreciate the beauty of the Fjords. Winding down at night with Sauna & Cold Plunging is just the Nordic way. Our stay at the Quality Hotel Waterfront Alesund was perfect. Great location, clean rooms, hospitable staff, excellent free full breakfast and I’ll say it again, every employee was SO nice, SO accommodating and that is not always the case these days.
