Amazing stay

It is a good hotel in an excellent location. Staff is friendly and polite. My only issue is how very dark the rooms are. The few lights in the room are very dim. No doubt an energy saving effort, but still, anyone over 50 would have a hard time reading a book by the lights over the bed.

We really liked the central location of this hotel, as it is very close to the charming area of Uppsala, next to a shopping mall with even a grocery store, near many restaurants and cafes, and across the street from a movie theater. It's really ideal if you plan to walk everywhere and you can even rent the hotel's bikes for 100 SEK per day (like $10-15 per day). However, if you plan to use a car, the hotel's parking is outrageously expensive with no in/out privileges. While it is close to the bus, if you are multiple people, it may be more cost effective to Uber it to destinations. Also, Foodora is available for food deliveries if you have Apple Pay to pay for delivery. The best part was the excellent service with friendly staff, huge breakfast buffet with both English/American (eggs and sausages) and the Nordic style breakfast (with fresh bread, cheese and deli meats). They even have smoothies and fresh fruit. We did not get a chance to try the spa. The only things left to be desired are the dark and dreary decor (the walls are literally dark gray) and the bathroom floor and shower tiles didn't look very clean. I really think they could have done better with a refresh of room decor and bathrooms.

Very clean, stylish, comfortable and central to everything. As a family traveling with kids, it was absolutely perfect! Walkable, safe and there was even a dedicated playroom that kept my 1.5 year old occupied for 2 whole hours.

This property is in need of some TLC. While they appear to be working on upgrades, it is clear that there have been break ins and that theft is a problem. There are metal plates attached to each door and signs warning guests to double check their locks. There are signs in the bathrooms encouraging guests to purchase toiletries downstairs rather than taking the guest large sized units provided. There are new showers installed, but old deep bathtubs and no safety bars while water from the new showers soaks the floor. We chose this property based on the spa featured on the website. It was closed for the duration of our stay, and appears to be an outsourced service although we were never able to verify. The breakfast service was the best part of our experience. The food was excellent, served timely and the staff work together very nicely.

As a gold member you may have a free upgrade. No offer from the hotel that was half empty over the weekend. Very small room and even smaller shower.

The service was great. In the restaurant everyone was just amazing and the food was delicious. I would definitely stay there again.

Acceptable room in the center of Uppsala. Easy to walk and visit the city everywhere. A bit expensive for the type of room.

Good service, friendly and helpful. The only issue is hard to park, the cost to park in the underground garage is more than 300 per night.

Very spacious, and nice room. The bathrobe and slippers were a nice upscale touch. We were even able to check in early after a long morning of travel. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we have ever seen. Very nice lounge area by reception. Right in the middle of town, can walk everywhere. Really enjoyed this hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Clarion Hotel Gillet was absolutely amazing!! Staff were amazing, breakfast was incredible and room was awesome. Clean , crisp linen. Can’t say enough about this hotel! Would go back to Uppsala just to stay here!
