Alpha Thun was a pleasant surprise. Our original booking of a different hotel in Interlaken was cancelled on us by the hotel and we scrambled to find another and this is what we found in Thun. The hotel is right next to the Strandbad bus stop, making it convenient to travel using bus. The room was clean, quaint, spacious enough, and decent looking. The hotel restaurant was great. The food selection was great. Our server, Pao, offered a few great suggestions for Schilthorn and the hiking areas around Murren and Gimmelwald. Since we love hiking, we followed her suggestions.

very friendly staff - a lovely place to stay. although a little out of town this helps with parking and there is a regular efficient bus service to the centre, a free bus pass is even provided

This little gem of a hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful, the hospitality area with free coffee and cold drinks was much appreciated after a long drive. The room was comfortable and well equipped and breakfast was varied and good quality. They even gave us a free pass for the local bus into Thun. We had a really enjoyable stay in Thun, largely down to the Alpha Thun hotel and if and when we return we would not hesitate to use this hotel again ...well done guys !

Good hotel if you're just looking for a place to sleep, since you’ll probably be out exploring most of the time. It’s not a 5-star property, but it does the job for a night or two. Staff were friendly and the location is spot on — about a 10–15 minute walk to the lake and the center of Thun. Parking is available right next to the hotel and it’s affordable, but make sure to have some Swiss Franc coins on you.

The room was very comfortable. Location was right across the street from express bus that took you to train station in 5 minutes. Hotel is a short walk from a lovely wooded park and Lake Thun. Hotel is about a half hour walk from the city center if you walk thru the park and along the lake.

I was in the third floor and the elevator reaches only up to the second floor. The room itself was very small with a slanted ceiling.

This hotel runs with minimal staff and the check in closes at 8pm. You will need your smart phone to either access instructions sent by e-mail if you don't arrive by 8pm or to call the emergency number for instructions on how to get in the building and get your room key. Room was fine, functionally furnished and clean. A cold buffet breakfast is available.

1) Unlike other Swiss hotels, City Tax paid during booking (charged direct by the hotel) 2) hair dryer kept out of sight (high above bathroom mirror top ledge) so we decided to use ours 3) 2nd night shower foam liquid only enough for one person so we have to use ours ! 4) 2nd night the tissue box was empty so we have to use ours !
