The Verdict Let’s start with the only positive: the staff here are fantastic. They were polite, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. It’s genuinely a shame that such a great team is stuck working in a property this bad. This place is terrible and does not live up to the Sandman brand in any way. Northland Properties should be embarrassed to have their name on this location. The Property & Rooms The entire hotel is extremely dated. It looks like what used to be the newer, more modern wing of the hotel was actually split off and transformed into a regular rental building, leaving hotel guests with the scraps. The Rooms: Tiny, cramped, and desperate for a renovation. The Bed: Uncomfortable and felt like it had seen way too many years of use. The Windows: Single-pane glass that lets in every single ounce of outside noise and temperature. The Bathroom: Barely functional. The plumbing felt like it was hanging on by a thread. The Location & Safety Concerns The hotel is located in an area with a severe homeless and drug crisis, making the entire stay feel sketchy and stressful. ⚠️ Warning to future travelers: Do NOT leave a single thing inside your vehicle. Car break-ins are a massive risk here. Every single time you walk out the front doors, you are immediately approached by people asking for money. Because of the cheap, single-pane windows, you hear everything happening on the street.

Easy to reach motel if you’re looking for somewhere to break up the journey between Jasper and Whistler. Room was clean and the staff friendly with a restaurant right next door.

This is more of a Motel than a Hotel for starters. The area it is located is close to the Hospital which is handy if you are needing a hotel close by. Motel is quite old and in need of some TLC . The air.conditioner was loud and the controls did not work. I had to turn it off which resulted in a very uncomfortable, hot room. Bathroom was fairly clean. Bathtub needed replacement as it was heavily chipped. Walls needed paint as well. All in all, the front desk staff was friendly, rate was good but for a Sandman Hotel I was very surprised. Doesn't hold up the brand name.

Exterior of the property is well maintained, very clean and fresh smelling when you walk in. The staff are very friendly both prior, during, and after booking. Room wasn’t super clean- there was a lot of hair in the bathroom, dust throughout, and overall needed a deep clean but when they came in the next day to freshen up my room they did a wonderful job cleaning so maybe there’s a difference in housekeepers or an off day, nonetheless I was a lot happier after they freshened it up. Rooms are basic, nothing fancy but get the job done. If I come back to Kamloops I would stay again

The photos on the website appear to have been taken at an entirely different hotel — possibly on a different planet. The room we stayed in looked like it had survived several natural disasters and then immediately hosted another one. There was not a single surface that wasn’t cracked, blistered, stained, peeling, broken, or hanging on purely out of spite. The walls were bubbling, the ceilings looked water-damaged, the moldings were splitting apart, and the bathtub drained with all the urgency of continental drift. The air conditioner had exactly two settings: “off” and “Arctic wind tunnel.” When it kicked on, it sounded like a Boeing 747 preparing for takeoff and could probably refrigerate meat for long-term storage. The bathroom was so unbelievably small that you had to physically step into the tub just to open or close the door. I’ve seen larger bathrooms on airplanes. The hallways featured industrial drying fans every few feet, strong musty flood-damage vibes, and the general atmosphere of a building actively losing a fight against moisture. The only genuinely positive thing I can say is that the toilet paper was surprisingly decent, which, considering the state of everything else, felt like a luxury amenity.

This hotel is located right on the heart of crackville. The minute we pulled into a parking spot we were approached by two homeless people and there were more hanging around all overthr area. Find a better hotel.

Impossible to access rooms without using stairs. No elevator. VERY OLD MOTEL. The garbage truck working right below our window at 6:30 AM was not appreciated. Come on Sandman - you've done better.

I feel completely duped and irritated by this property. Not very well up kept. Could hear lots of loud patrons. So much so someone in the hotel called the police for noise. We were charged on rate on the first night and then charged another price on the second night. How does the room go up by $50 in one night for the same room that was not even cleaned or worth an up charge? I will never stay at this property ever again. What a scam.
