Avoid at all costs! We were gifted a Virgin Experience as a wedding present and mistakenly booked here for an overnight stay with dinner for 2 & Spa access. The hotel is run down and shabby in most areas. Questionable stains on the carpets, also coming away in numerous places. Dead moth in our corridor on the floor when we arrived and still there when we "escaped" No fridge, deposit box or air con. Room (49) was very hot so stripped the duvet out of the cover so we could use just the cover on it's own, if the stains on the carpet weren't bad enough the duvet itself was a real shocker (see pictures) Light fitting hanging in the bathroom and a number of bulbs not working. As for the Spa! Doors missing on most of the lockers in the mens changing room and those with doors didn't work- not sure why the chap on the desk bothers telling you how to operate them. Fellow guest said his valuables were in the car. Very few staff around so service for our meal was very slow, girl run ragged but not yet trained to serve drinks so that took ages. My wife had a couple of treatments and from what she said that was more like what she would have expected for a 4 star hotel. Not sure how they have a 4 star rating - think VAR needs to get involved. They didn't even ask if we'd enjoyed our stay when we checked out, says it all. Have now seen other reviews suggesting to stay anywhere else but here and 100% agree and wish we had, avoid like the plaque!

We stayed here for two nights and overall had a lovely experience. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, conveniently located around 10 minutes from central Chester and less than 10 minutes from Chester Zoo by car. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, with special thanks to Karim at reception, who was particularly helpful and made us feel very welcome. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning. Our room appeared to be participating in an enthusiastic heat-retention experiment. Although a fan had been provided, it mainly succeeded in redistributing the warm air evenly around the room like a convection oven. The small window didn’t offer much relief either. So, if the temperature is above 25°C, I’d recommend either bringing a portable air conditioner… or preparing to experience what it feels like to sleep inside a freshly baked croissant.

I was really disappointed with our spa day and unfortunately wouldn’t recommend it. From the moment we arrived, the whole place felt tired, run down and in need of some care. The staff were unhelpful and didn’t seem interested in resolving any of the issues we experienced. To make matters worse, several of the facilities weren’t working. All of the lockers were broken, the changing rooms were not clean. The jacuzzi was cold and broken and the sauna wasn’t functioning either, which meant we couldn’t enjoy the spa experience we’d paid for. Our treatment schedule was also completely messed up. The timings were changed, leaving us with no choice but to leave before we could have one of our treatments. The one massage we did receive was advertised as 25 minutes, but it lasted only around 15 minutes, which was extremely disappointing. Overall, we paid for a relaxing spa day but instead left feeling frustrated and let down. Between the broken facilities, poor organisation, shortened treatments and lack of customer service, it was not the experience we were expecting or had paid for. I hope the management take these issues seriously and make improvements so future guests don’t have the same experience.

We stayed at Crabwall Manor Hotel & Spa to celebrate my partner's birthday, so we were hoping for a relaxing and memorable experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be very disappointing. Our room itself was clean and generally fine, but there was a large water stain on the ceiling that clearly hadn't been repaired. It was also one of the hottest days of the year, yet the room had no air conditioning and only a small desk fan, which made it extremely uncomfortable. Our first impression wasn't great either. The gentleman on reception was quite rude and unprofessional. While checking us in, he stopped to take what appeared to be a phone call, leaving us waiting. During check-in he asked what time we wanted breakfast and whether we would be eating in the restaurant that evening, which suggested everything was available as normal. However, we later discovered there was a wedding taking place that day, something we had not been informed about before arriving. Because of the number of wedding guests, we were unable to get a table to enjoy an evening meal. The only alternative offered was to sit outside on picnic benches located in the car park, which is hardly what you'd expect when booking a hotel and spa for a special birthday celebration. To be fair, many of the other staff members we encountered were friendly, polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the receptionist's attitude and the overall organisation let the hotel down. I also made two separate attempts to raise my concerns with the manager during our stay. On both occasions I was told the manager was busy, a message would be passed on, and that someone would get back to me. Nobody ever did. Overall, this stay fell well below expectations, especially given it was booked as a birthday treat. Better communication about the wedding, more consideration for non-wedding guests, and improved customer service would have made a significant difference. Sadly, based on our experience, I would not recommend Crabwall Manor Hotel & Spa and would choose to stay elsewhere in the future.

Went here for a reading retreat so can't comment on the rooms as we didnt use them. However the hotel itself was lovely. Beautiful setting, lovely and peaceful and very clean. The staff were also very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We had the afternoon tea which was delicious, very fresh and good quality. Spent most of my time there out on the patio which was really relaxing and had beautiful views across the fields. Will definitely go back.
