The hotel looks nothing like the photos, the area was trashed, graffiti everywhere, the staff was incredibly rude. It was such an inconvenience for one of the receptionist to look up the time for Mass. The other lady was so rude because we asked a question about our room. The hospitality was absolutely trash. So bad we only stayed the first night and left that morning. I will never come back, the worst experience I have had on this entire trip. The city also felt so unsafe, there was no one on the street, just groups of men walking around, the only German’s I met were the hostess at the hotel. This is a trash city and will tell everyone to never visit this hotel or city.

Staff was excellent, breakfast was plentiful. Ask for a room Away from early morning street noise when delivery carts on the cobblestone pedestrian way started my day about 645. Bit overall an excellent Value

The 5 star review is for the staff that was just amazing! Very nice and very helpful! The location is very good - just 5 minutes walk from the old town. The area was safe and quiet. The hotel was super clean! The breakfast was also very nice!

The property was on the edge of the old city which is nice. A bit awkward to get into the parking because there was no where to leave the car that didn’t block a road while you checked in. Getting from the garage outside to the check in was awkward as well. Hotel was clean updated and quite nice. No bar or restaurant on site but was close to all.

City Hotel has a lovely staff that serve a hearty breakfast. The location is perfect for exploring Freiburg. The underground parking is also very convenient. The rooms are not air conditioned and can be very warm so we had to keep the windows open all night and put up with lots of noise from passersby and delivery trucks early in the morning. The mattresses and pillows are well past replacement time. The uncomfortable beds and noise hindered our enjoyment of this unique and beautiful city.

Very decent hotel!

The hotel is in walking distance to the train station which is very convenient if you arrive and/or leave by train. The hotel is close to the center of the city so you can explore right from your hotel. The receptionist and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

My wife and I enjoyed the location and the breakfast most of all. The facilities were comfortable and the staff were helpful.

Very warm at night

This hotel was a good value for the price. It was not fancy, but attractive and clean, and the staff was helpful. The location was convenient, although not scenic, but close to everything. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices. I would stay there again.

Very centrally located to the old town of Freiburg, this cozy hotel offered friendly faces, a comfortable bed, and a delicious breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent friendly staff

Staff, was fabulous,rooms clean nicely sized. Hairdryer was broken. No biggy. Great breakfast, easy parking. We where able to walk everywhere! The ONLY downside is, that you are near the university. Lots of students, lots of parties, delivery trucks starting delayed at 0500. Earplugs where provided. Also just close the windows and metal blinds. Great little place!
