overall our weekend break in the Salutation Hotel, Ambleside was very enjoyable, couldnt fault the very pleasant staff/ service. The meals especially the Breakfast was outstanding. Our room was very comfortable and had everything required for an enjoyable stay. One struggle initially was the parking but eventually we got sorted and it was a very busy Bank holiday weekend.

Fantastic breakfast, pool and spa facilities amazing. Restaurant compared to hotel I would have expected more, food was very average but the breakfast they serve is wonderful so doesn’t quite make sense. Rooms are wonderful and everything you need and spa bath is so relaxing. My 4th visit to hotel so always love it but Restaurant needs work.

Breakfast fantastic and the staff lovely and very helpful, found spa staff curt and bordering on rude when we asked for a "float" to assist in our swim which they had in January but now claim was somethjng a previous customer had left behind. Also found operation of the spa outdoor pool buttons unpredictable ie sometimes worked and sometimes didnt. Found the reception staff especially helpful. Due to the spa being a letdown we wont be returning.

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and a great breakfast. It was a shame the steam room and showers in the hydrotherapy pool weren’t working but it didn’t spoil our stay. The hot tub on the patio made up for it. Would definitely return.

Wonderful, relaxing stay. Clean and comfortable rooms with robes and slippers provided, making spa use easier. Spa facilities good although steam room unavailable for one day - awaiting repair so no one's fault. The staff coped exceptionally well during an unexpected, regional power cut. They were excellent throughout our stay, and very helpful when we accidentally left a coat in the wardrobe. Thank you for making our short break, so relaxing and enjoyable.

Breakfast was good and liked the table service. Larger room with balcony was nice and clean. However the bed was a bit uncomfortable and lumpy and the sauna was not working and steam room was only partially working. Pool and jacuzzi all good. Very nice seating areas around bar and would recommend

Breakfast was good, rooms were clean. The rooms were really warm even though it was late March. There was a fan and windows opened but it made little difference. The spa was very average, it could be significantly better as well. It was very busy for how small it was, they could have it a lot bigger if they used the space better as there is a big gym area bigger than most hotels and not one person used it!

Underwhelming. This is a very ordinary hotel, despite the hot tubs, pool and spa. The decor is vile, all dull browns with turquoise. In the “Troutbeck” room there is a nasty trip hazard into the bathroom. A stubbed toe was annoying but a cracked skull would have been more so. Tip: if it’s not fixed put a rolled up hand towel down to fill the gap and catch your attention. Pillows were like sandbags and need immediate replacement. The mattress had an uncomfortable lump and was likely in need of replacement too. The hot tub was good, as was the jacuzzi bath. The fridge was handy, and the chairs comfortable enough for a short while. Free parking on site. The building is a maze of corridors and stairs. Regrettably the lift was out of order for the first 24 hours or so. As a walking stick user this was less than ideal. Breakfast was okay but not special. My choice of evening meal, “roast of the day”, was almost inedible. Vegetable selection poor. The wait staff were pleasant but scruffy, in contrast to the smart and highly exuberant maitre’d. It is far from being a gourmet restaurant and there are other places to eat.
