The Residences are fantastic family rooms. We had a 2 bed which meant 2 terraces, a kitchen with washing machine and 2 en-suite rooms. However, as I seem to find in European 5 star hotels, little thought is given in designn stage to women who may want to put make up on or blow dry their hair for dinner. No make up stand/dressing table with mirror and seat, just the non-air conditioned bathroom to fry in! Also we had to call to request a clothes airer after using the washing machine - a small detail but should not be overlooked at 5 star level. The food in the restaurants was excellent, as were the serving team. This is not really a hotel for kids… the kids pool has slides - oug of action for the whole 12 nights we stayed. Kids club was extra and we paid €90 for our kids to put toppings on a pizza base! The kids are not allowed balls or any form of inflatable in the pools, so it is there just for swimming up and down. The tennis centre is great but heavily pre-booked. The Lucia Beach Club was expensive, for average standard food, and sadly I cut my feet (reported to hotel) on the floor of the pool (grout I assume as sort of skinned my toes!). All in all, a good, but not excellent stay in July 2026. We will revert to iKos as a family in future.

The property is new and nice! The only problem was a super strong scent entering my connecting rooms, like burnt rubber that staff could not fix. It wouldn’t go away for the whole stay, even after maintenance came in to fix the issue (not resolved). There is another main concern for future visitors, that the only day we went to the Lucia Pool there was a huge line to enter, one line for reservations and hotel guests and one for walk ins. Both lines were full! The staff kindly told everyone in line that there were no seats available for hotel guests or walk ins but then proceeded to explain that there were a few chairs/beds available for purchase!!! My jaw dropped! I scanned the whole pool area and there were so many open chairs available. The staff was overwhelmed and incompetent. Very pretty pool areas but since they prefer paid patrons, beware or come early!!! Breakfast was nice and tasty, staff was great! Vibes at Maneros was cool! Hotel is too far from other places in town like Puente Romano, Puerto Banus, or Old Town so getting around adds up. Hope this review helps!

Resort is an excellent place to enjoy a wonderful holiday in the Costa del Sol. The amenities are amazing, and the staff is equal to the task at every level. The rooms are beautifully decorated as is the lobby and the pool area as well as a beautifully manicured gardens. The main restaurant is called Manero and it appears that it is a separately owned and managed entity from the Don Carlos team. Although beautifully designed, It would’ve been ideal if the Manero establishment provided the same kind of attentive and preferential service to hotel guests as they do to those reserving from outside. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the staff incredibly attentive to our needs. I would definitely recommend the Dan Carlos Hotel two anyone looking for an excellent and unforgettable experience!

Perfect hotel! Enjoyed 7 days in this beautifully renovated hotel with my fiancée, it was absolutely lovely. Very welcoming staff. Breakfast was a highlight, with so many options (+ some gluten free ones which were appreciated as I am celiac). Also many things to do at and close to the hotel, including tennis at Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy. Lovely staff there as well (Maggy :) was amazing), great courts and coaches!

Beautiful hotel, unfortunately the breakfast buffet lets it down. Definitely not 5 star standards. Very limited hot food choices, and the quality of the produce is poor.

Everything was amazing in this recently re-vamped hotel…except the constant noise. I like music, but I don’t like the constant throb of beats…everywhere! It’s by the “quieter” pool all the time, in the lobby, in the restaurants, in the beach club Lucia. It’s only at breakfast that there’s any respite. I reckon it’s all AI created as this wasn’t anything recognisable - the modern day equivalent of the “mural” you used to get in lifts. I’ve been going to this hotel for more than 20 years and I shan’t be returning unless it changes its music policy

My second time at this hotel and it has been renovated beautifully. Had and issue with our room at check in. Single beds after multiple pre requests for a king bed and crumbs on the floor. Took a exceptionally long time and a manger request to get this resolved, but we got there. All round a fantastic hotel with friendly staff and a lovely setting but a few niggles I would highlight other than our check in issue. By 9am all pool beds are gone, but no one actually on them. People throw a hat or book on them and head off to breakfast. I counted two people at the pool at 8.50am but not a single free bed. Pool staff on site do not police this whatsoever and allow it every day. Very frustrating in a hotel of this calibur. Breakfast staff don't come near you to offer tea coffe etc. You have to wave them down or catch one who is frantically running past you. It's also extremely busy after 9.30am and the egg/omelette que is off putting. Maybe they should make people book breakfast slots to minimise this stampeed. Hotel beach club never has any space for hotel guests as they allow so many outside bookings. On the plus side the breakfast selection is great. Hotel check in staff etc were very friendly. Room service and turn down service was fantastic. Lovely decor and good music at weekends I will certainly return as we have a great stay overall.

Stunning property. Gorgeous views of the Mediterranean and Africa (on clear days). Pools, beach, and onsite restaurants were all top quality. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Would definitely consider coming back if we have the chance.

This is not a cheap property however for a larger resort everything was amazing. Room (we upgraded to a one bedroom residence room) , service , food , and amenities were all first rate . There are two beach clubs including the famous Nikki Beach clubs with large pools right on the beach and both are family friendly with great service and food . All round I would highly recommend this property for a high end vacation with lots to do
