Lovely gardens but on entering hotel then disappointing. Very dated & rooms need an update. Stayed in better premier inns Towles in bathroom for one when booked double room for 2 however found spare on top of wardrobe?? These should have been ready in bathroom. Couldnt use shaving plug on light due to been high up above mirror & no leads would be long enough to reach so needs to be replaced..must have been from 80s. Basic room with uncomfy beds & hard pillows with alot of late night noise grom corridors. Average breakfast. But i would say the staff are very good especially Danny that was in bar & did room maintenance and breakfast hes a credit to the team. Would have expected better overall from the hotel so wouldnt use again

Great staff. Great stay. The room was clean and the staff were very helpful any questions we had they answered with ease. They were very friendly. The breakfast was very good and there was lots of options.

Friendly reception staff on arrival. Rooms was clean and ample for one night. My main issue was with breakfast. I had an exam close by in the morning, meaning I was unable to get breakfast beforehand. I informed the staff member in the restaurant that I was be last min but upon my return I would like my breakfast and coffee. He agreed but did not inform other staff. I arrived at 0955 to be told Breakfast had finished, I did receive coffee and managed to grab some hot food before it was swiftly removed by the kitchen staff. The food was good but the communication is poor. Not all guests are there to sleep and lazily hang around. May I suggest a grab breakfast for future for those unable to sit and eat or have other activities to do.

A decent stay with some irritations

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals we had were lovely. It was busy on the Saturday evening and just one bar man on meant he was rushing between the bar and restaurant, he could have done with extra staff to help him. The toilet was difficult to flush and the extractor fan didn't work. We still enjoyed our stay.

The Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was good and so was our breakfast. The room was comfortable but a little dated. A great stop over for visiting York.

The staff in the restaurant were absolutely amazing each and everyone of them was brilliant in their job role the room was comfortable and clean the bed was very comfortable the food was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious x

Lovely spacious room, very clean.. had everything we needed. Breakfast lovely and highly recommended

My main issue was extremely little vegetarian options . God help Vegans. Breakfast was ok but veggie sausage was anemic. I asked any tomatoes rather than baked beans . A firm No was the reply. No oh I'll get you some? Lunch and evening meals for vegetarian was either expensive or uninviting . I ate out. Other than that the hotel and surround were nice enough. Parking could be an issue, if an older person had to carry heavy bags from overflow car park . No disabled parking that I could see.

Breakfast menu was ok. Staff pleasant. Bar didnt have zero non alcohol Guinness. Hot water intermittent. Sheets did not fit bed. Had to ask for bath mat. No mobile phone signal for Vodafone. Wifi patchy. Think hotel needs investment.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Burn Hall Hotel from Thursday, 4 June to Sunday, 7 June. The staff were all very friendly and professional, and the service we received in the restaurant was superb. Really great waiters. The bar staff, Tom and Carina, were very good, friendly and welcoming. The room was great, clean and as expected, and the location of the hotel was ideal for our visits to York and a day trip to Whitby. The food was very good, and we enjoyed the breakfast, but especially the evening dinner. The food was great; very generous portions and of high quality. We travel extensively around the world, and our main home is in Florida. We have done many weekend breaks in the UK, and this was one of our favourites. We will definitely return to this hotel, maybe even this year. Thank you.

Clean room, bit dated. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was hot and help yourself. Nice building and gardens to sit in.

The gardens were well maintained and lovely to relax in. Rooms are basis but bed was comfortable.

The room was spotless and staff was so lovely well mannored and polite breakfast was lovely and bar was lovely couldnt fault it we spent our 10 year wedding anniversary with you we really enjoyed it and we stay again

We enjoyed our stay and it is good value for money overall. Good stuff : Lovely setting. Friendly reception and bar staff. All items on cooked breakfast were actually hot... from self service! highly unusual but much appreciated & real coffee. Bad stuff : Grumpy unfriendly restaurant staff did not have a smile between them.. They were quite abrupt and unhelpful. The two main courses we wanted had run out! The bottle of Rose wine was overpriced at £29 for 10.5Abv. I had to ask for a wine cooler... the reply was.. Sorry they have all been stolen! I asked for an ice bucket to be told they are only for Champagne! What? Unbelievable. The wine was inpleasant.. Wine was poor for the price. Overall... Room was clean and functional. Setting is lovely.. Female staff were lovely too. Restaurant staff require training! We would stay again and hope for an improvement!
