A great night away. Our room was amazing so historical and cosy. Bed was huge and comfy. We watched the stars through the roof window. Food ordered at the bar was tasty and very enjoyable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I have a gluten intolerance and was given a file of all allergens in menu. Easy access from a small car park with electric chargers.

Hotel is inside the castle wall and central for everything. Arrived and was told the car park is £15 per day or a free car park down the road until a certain time then have to pay or you can have a free pass for a car park at the harbour. We chose to stay at the hotel car park for the night. Everything was explained to us about breakfast and you gave a time that was suitable to eat. We were shown to our suite using a gate code and then another number for the room. The suite was beautiful, lovely and clean and huge, lovely big sitting area, kitchen and very large bedroom with plenty of pillows from soft to hard. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee in room, could just do with more few more milks. Breakfast was great, you help yourself from cereals, fruit, yogurts tea and coffee. Then they came and asked waht hot food you required selection was great large or small Welsh breakfast, eggs royale, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, squashed avocado on toast, veg options. We had a few meals whilst there the steak and ale pie was lovely but pastry would be better if it was puff pastry. The carvery was delicious we had beef, lamb and chicken, loads of veg, potatoes and Yorkshire puddings with lashings of gravy. Room service everyday. Can be a bit noisy at night but there is ear plugs in the drawer to use. Lovely staff and excellent hotel, would definitely stay again

We had one of the rooms in the main pub and for my disabled husband it was difficult access. After 2 nights they were able to offer us a more suitable room which is fabulous. Staff can’t do enough to help and the food was great. Restaurant always busy which is a good sign.

This is the third time that we have stayed at the Black Boy. As soon as we walked through the door we were made welcome, the friendly smile from the reception staff said it all. Our room was cosy and warm, just what we needed after a long journey. The bars and dining room are friendly will the atmosphere of a real old pub. The food was excellant with a varied menu. The breakfast hall with the attentive staff and good choice of food on offer was amazing. Well done everyone for making our stay so enjoyable. For us the Black Boy is special. Bob and Pat Hateley
