First time staying! I only live 20 mins away but fancied a night away! Room was in the courtyard and car was directly outside! We dined in the restaurant and couldn’t fault it! Staff were lovely as was food! Breakfast the next day - we didn’t have anything continental but had full cooked breakfast! Beautiful castle - full of history- will plan to stay in one of the castle rooms next time!

Lovely stay in a lovely place. Spotless quirky room ... found the WC in the wardrobe ;-) A great hideaway for my 60th ... and allocated room 60 upon arrival. Happy. More than happy to return and book up for another special occasion/milestone (... or maybe just a courtyard room just for the hell of it :-)) Excellent accommodation. Excellent stay. Lovely breakfasts each morning of our three night stay.

Me & my partner stayed at this beautiful castle for the first time for our 9th Anniversary and had a perfect time. From the stunning snowy Wintery backdrop to the exquisite food and the warm, friendly staff. We will definitely be back :)

We returned to Lumley Castle for our 50th anniversary - probably our 8th visit over that time. On arrival the receptionist was welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed returning to a four poster room in the castle. Staff service throughout the hotel - room, bar, dining room was excellent. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season and it was warm and clean. Our friends in a courtyard room were very happy with their experience. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner from the long menu and the following morning the breakfast choices were excellent. We hope to return.

We did not have breakfast but we did dine in the Knights Restaurant where the food, decor and service were impeccable! Our room was perfect, there was minimal general wear and tear but it was spotless and probably the comfiest bed/pillows I have ever slept on! Despite the bitterly cold temperature outside, all indoor areas, including the bedrooms were warm and cosy. All staff in all areas were fantastic, 10/10 customer service. Cocktails were delicious and being cosy round the fire in the library bar was the perfect aesthetic, as is the rest of the castle! A perfect nights stay for me and my boyfriend after having a busy few weeks working over Christmas *****

This was our second visit, and it didn’t fail to impress. On this occasion we stayed over Christmas, and the hotel was decorated fabulously. We had a castle feature room which was lovely. We also ate in the restaurant for dinner, which again was excellent. Breakfast was also very good. The staff were all polite and professional, always chatty with a smile on their faces! Would definitely recommend.

Gorgeous place, naturally quirky and blends comfort with the old features brilliantly. I had a single room which was perfect for a solo get away. Bar service and atmosphere was excellent. Efficient check in and out.
