My wife and I had a tremendous weekend in Donegal Town. The Abbey Hotel was a perfect base with the square right out front of the Hotel. The room was huge with a very comfortable bed. We were there to see Onoir, but the hotel also had live Irish music playing in afternoon and evening. It was great. But the real star is the Hotel porter, Patrick. He could not have done anymore for us, always stopped to chat and ask if we needed anything. My wife was feeling the heat, Patrick went out his way to put a fan in our room 👌. People like Patrick are what makes your Hotel so good, he goes out his way to meet your needs. Thanks, Patrick 👍 We will definetly be back. And Onoir were sensational 😉 Stevie and Donna

The hotel was advertised with air conditioning. The bar is air conditioned. The rooms do not have fans. Apparently they only have a few and should be reserved in advance. The room had no tissues. I would never recommend

Nothing! One person checking in with the 20 minutes to be served. Specifically requested a quit room was given a room on the third floor, where the exhaust fans go into the middle square area, seagulls fighting at 5:30am in Morning. I won’t be staying here again.

Classic old hotel right in the center of town square. Good for quick stays. Pub food just ok (staff there great); the main restaurant was closed during our stay.

The room surfaces were clean but the air quality was poor: air circulation was poor, and there was a strong mouldy smell that originated from the bathroom. The hotel felt safe and the beds were fine, and the location is great. Overall, it feels like good value for staying right on The Diamond, but Donegal is small enough that perhaps staying slightly away from the centre would be fine too.

Our room and bathroom were immaculate, the reception staff were friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay here.

Close to everything. Walkable! Restaurants. Bars. Great. Should have stayed longer.

We arrived late, no parking except two blocks away and food service ended at 8:30pm. However, the breakfast the next morning was fantastic, five stars!

The hotel and room were clean and comfortable. The desk staff was helpful. The dining staff, however, was rude and unhelpful.

It’s lovely hotel and very helpful staff, no main hotel parking but pay and display parking around canal and around town. Very quiet we really enjoy our stay.

So noisy at night and when we rang reception to complain we were told it's in the small print that rooms be noisy.
