Nice room.. pleasant staff, grateful for the easy pick up from the bit terminal. Food very average in flavour, breakfast was minimal... fruit on a stick, crepe and eggs... it felt there was meant to be a French fusion vibe... but wasn't feeling it, that said they clearly do amazing work with the community so fair play and good luck. Great work

I was in one of the deluxe rooms overlooking the Mekong in the building at the top of the hill. My room was incredible with amazing views and cool design with the bed oriented to the river view. Amazing as it was, however, the room isn't very functional. Getting the doors open to the balcony is a challenge, and guests in adjacent rooms can see into your room easily, so privacy is a bit of an issue. In the room itself, there's no desk space to work from (or sit down) and the luxe design with the bath amenities is exposed to other guests looking in your curtains are open. The open-air restaurant is wonderful for an evening meal, but breakfast is not buffet and limited in options. Plus, most people staying are only for 1 night because they're on the slow boat to Luang Prabang, so the timing is tight to eat, check out, and get the shuttle down to the river for your boat's departure. The pool area is fantastic, and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The night I stayed here, there was a lot of loud music from neighboring private properties and when I complained, the manager said there's nothing that can be done about it. Not the property's fault, and could be an issue with other hotels in the small town of Pakbeng. Still, a bit frustrating, though eventually the music did stop. Despite my criticism, this hotel is worth staying at multiple nights to really soak up the resort atmosphere.

The setting is incredible and the property utilized every opportunity to capitalize on the natural beauty of the view and surrounding foliage. Just as important as the setting was the attentive beautiful people who work there. The food was great and well presented.

Beautiful spot overlooking the Mekong, plus helpful and friendly staff. Only gripe was the limited set meal for supper, and with no vegetarian option,

Very poorly managed. No hair dryers. They literally act like you’re inconveniencing them by even asking… “you can come pick one up in the other building.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our short but beautiful stay at this great property. With superb views of the mighty Mekong and 2 decks to enjoy them from, we were reluctant to leave our room. The bed & pillows were super comfy, making for a very good night's sleep. The staff made us hearty breakfast boxes for our early morning departure, plus free transfers were included from and to the pier to catch our slow boat. I could've easily stayed another couple of nights to fully immerse myself in the Mekong experience.

Nothing terrible but nothing stood out either. Nice views from the room but not worth the cost compared to the surrounding properties.

Caution…. The hotel did a bait and switch on me. What you see in the photos on Travelocity isn’t necessarily what you will receive. I booked and paid for a balcony suite. Instead, I was given a ground floor room. “Sorry, it’s already full.” Instead of taking any sort of responsibility, they blamed everyone but themselves. They even had the audacity to say that I was the first booking they ever had off of Travelocity. I would use caution before booking with them.

What a fabulous hotel is the Pakbeng Sanctuary Lodge. A stunning view over the Mekong River, beautiful rooms and a lovely bar/ restaurant. There are 2 areas, the lower with superior rooms, a restaurant and swimming pool, and the upper with deluxe rooms and suites, also with a separate restaurant. We were upgraded to a suite and it was luxurious. The food is lovely and the drinks cold. The included breakfast was tasty.

A beautiful hotel on the top of the hill overlooking the Mekong River. They picked me up at the boat and transported me to an oasis. This place was a great way to relax after my 6 hour boat ride to get there. The people that worked there were friendly and the view from my patio was amazing. I loved watching the sun set over the river. I only wish I could have had more time to enjoy this place before starting my second day journey to Luang Prabang.

An absolute marvelous hotel overlooking the Mekong. If you're travelling down by boat either way make the effort to stay 2 nights and not rush off on the next morning boat. Be awakened by elephants trumpeting on the banks opposite. The rooms are plush and spacious the staff are exceptional, big thanks to Fon. Great management team. And Wendy Leggat who runs the elephant sanctuary is a gem. To visit the elephants is a must. Great pool. Very nice restaurant with a fine set menu plus breakfast is great. Highly recommended we didn't want to leave. Many thanks.

We stayed at the Sanctuary as we had stayed in the sister hotel in Luang Prabang and loved it. We found this one not to be as polished but still an enjoyable stay. Pakbeng is a 'stop-over' place as the boat cruise along the Mekong stops here meaning there was very little around in the local vicinity meaning we didn't leave the complex. We were upgraded to a 'deluxe' room but felt it lacked that prestige feel e.g. bed wasn't as comfortable as we've had previously and only 1 pillow. The staff were very attentive, including the manager who welcomed us personally. The food was delicious and we enjoyed a bottle of red wine in the room as well as with dinner as it was so good. The view is exquisite along the Mekong and we even saw elephants bathing in the water on the opposite bank at 7am as we left. Amazing. The hotel has it's own private pier to the river so our cruise picked us up there which was a real perk. The team helped us with our bags to the river making the whole process very easy. We requested a breakfast box as we were leaving so early and were spoilt! We had an omelette each, crepes, toast with butter/jam and fresh fruit. Excellent.

Seriously I don't understand how people give this place 10/10 the best thing about the place was the view. The room was ok. The water to the room was intermittent. Twice I was in the shower covered in suds and the water stopped. On mentioning this to staff they seemed surprised although looking at other reviews this has been an issue for 4 years. The menu was limited with only one vegetarian option. The beer was 3 times more expensive than elsewhere. The elephants across the river were about 1 km away. Don't believe the pictures. This place is expensive compared to elsewhere and I certainly wouldn't stay here again. Oh and the WiFi was terrible.

We had a very brief stay at this beautiful hotel. Staff were amazing with a very big welcome from Ben the manager. Rooms were beautiful with all the amenities you need. The view was amazing and the town while very primitive, very interesting. Would have liked to stay another night the appreciate the area.
