An overpriced hotel with run down rooms in desperate need of refurbishment. Luggage had to be left in a cramped reception area till rooms were ready. Despite a welcome note prior to arrival stating how helpful they are, staff were not able to provide any info about the area and bus timetable given to me was out of date. Bathroom was particularly shabby. This place felt like a backpacker hostel, not a $300 room. Not recommended even though the location was great. All staff were overseas travellers and although pleasant had no real interest in providing customer service. I will not return to this hotel.

Nice property. Needed laundry and reception had no coins for machine. Get the little things right and I'll trust you on bigger things.

this place is rundown, rattly fridge, rattly aircon, pool closed, connecting door, noisy, very faded but terribly over-priced !! (330 AUD for one night)

In all fairness, this was high season so prices were probably elevated and affected our expectations. However, having grown up with very little, I know it doesn’t cost a lot to keep something clean. And when you’re running a business, it should still be maintained well. The door to our unit would not close fully—left about a half inch gap. The ceiling fan wobbled so much that it seemed like a hazard to anyone sleeping underneath it. Both of those could be forgiven if they were the only issues. However, the room was incredibly unclean, especially the bathroom and shower area. I am bald and my wife is blonde and yet the shower was riddled with long dark black hairs not just in one spot but at least half dozen or more spots in the shower and on the bathroom floor and on the toilet. This was a one night stay so there was no sense in complaining and trying to move when we only had a few hours before our flight the next morning. But the pricing was exceptionally high for an exceptionally poor experience. I will say the little pool area looks very inviting and charming. We didn’t have time to use it however. I’ll also say the front desk staff was very friendly, patient, & helpful upon check-in.

we stayed here 30 years ago... but wouldn't recommend it now... way out priced for the standard 300 + bucks for an old - outdated - poorly presented room only soap, shampoo and conditioner supplied no body lotion/ hairdryer/ no plug in the sink lighting was terrible / colouring on the TV was dreadful the 'old' Roey is definitely that!

Shower recess was not very good, very old.very noisy with groups of young people on our verandah till quite late.

These rooms should be at least $50 cheaper considering they haven’t been updated in decades…very shabby, although the bed was clean and comfortable. The tv remote was very difficult to navigate, and I was unable to locate any of the streaming services that were available in the last room I stayed in here. There was also no compendium anywhere in the room to assist. Otherwise, location is good…right in Chinatown and close enough to the airport to walk if I was so inclined, however I used the airport transfer service gratefully.

I only stay here because it’s close to the airport. Very shabby rooms for what they charge.

Pretty awful. Broken, run down, noisy. Most staff were back packers with no interest but some polite and helpful. Only plus was the food at Pearlers was decent.

The staff were friendly we had fun in your establishment BUT I was very disappointed in regards to the pool area being closed to be renovated the reason why I got that room as it was pool side, would have been nice to have been notified

In old town /chinatown. Simple decent room, nice pool.

Food ok, bed comfortable, but that is the best we could say about our stay. We had a superior room at $409 a night, and it was like a cave with a view of the swimming pool, there was nothing supplied apart from tea or coffee, a basic motel has better room facilities . We were kept awake for three nights, Thur, Fri and Sat, by bands from hell, we wondered how much they were paying the hotel for playing there. The advertisements for the hotel were nothing like what you get, the room was a bitter disappointment, and the fees and taxes are not included in advertised price. Our room wasn’t even secure when we got there, the door locks were just about to fall off and the security chain was not attached to anything. All in all a bitter disappointment.
