Staff was outstanding. Room was very nice. Air conditioning icy cool during a heat wave. My favorite part was the seating area out front. I enjoyed several afternoon or evening breaks sitting in the shade and relaxing.

Lovely hotel in the old town and just steps from the train station, Aare river and all the historic streets. So easy to make day trips and use city transit (free with stay). Our double room was well appointed, spacious and the AC worked well. Staff was very helpful and they also let us store our bags for a few hours after we checked out. Main floor has a small self serve drinks/cafe area where breakfast is also served in the morning. Lovely for a quick drink - with free coffee and tea all day! My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Wonderful hotel worth a prime location. Just a few blocks from the Bahnhof, Bundesplatz right across the street, and just blocks from everything else. The lobby provides free still and sparkling water. There were free drinks and cookies upon check in. And there was free ice cream being offered because of the ongoing heatwave. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

Very convenient location for both the main sights of the old town and the train station. Helpful staff. I had booked a small room but it was fine in terms of size. A bit noisy early in the morning but it was on a main road so to be expected. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Free tea, coffee and ice cream available.

Perfect location to know the city in short amount of time. Walking distance from the train station even with luggage and a baby it was comfortable.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at Bãren. Extremely helpful staff, clean room and bath, and good location. There was no traffic noise at night. We appreciated the coffee and sparking water service in the lobby. All in all, an excellent value. It rained a bit when we were there. We found we could walk to the railway station without getting wet! A definite plus. When we needed an umbrella for our walkabout, the staff were happy to supply now.

Very clean and close to the station. Very convenient

First of all I can not recommend the breakfast buffet. The Buffet area is so small and crowded and very poorly prepared. I can not even find a simple banana or apple. The location is conveniently located. However the rooms are very small and there are also unexpected steps in the room.

We loved the great location! We walked to most attractions within 10 minutes. The several times a week markets is right around corner. It has washing and drying machines for people to use for free. It is very quiet at night and safe! Breakfast is very good with dishes carefully selected and prepared. Hotel provides free coffee and tea and great taste ice water all day. We will return to this hotel again and highly recommend this hotel. Bern is full of history and culture—from the Middle Ages to Einstein and beyond! Well worth visiting!

Nice modern style hotel close to the train station. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast selection was limited.

Excellent location for shopping and restaurants and very comfy bed all at a reasonable price. Wifi good. Note however that room air conditioner not working while outside air is "fresh" according to staff, but room was a bit warm so we had to open windows. The only problem with that is the noise all night from the street. Which probably explains why the hotel provides ear plugs next to the bed.

They need air conditioning. All five nights, we couldn’t sleep well because it’s too warm. If no blanket then it chill, with blanket it’s hot. Again no air conditioning.
