A decent hotel but a bit expensive. The food for dinner was a little underwhelming and the banqueting room next door to ours was hosting a very noisy karaoke party, which was a bit irritating.

Great performance indeed both the cost and quality points of view. A dinner corse is lovely, buffet syle breakfast is also fair enough, hot springs are fantastic, and a price is not so high. I'm almost satisfied.

I feel like this place deserves a higher rating, food, service and rooms were nice and clean. Enjoyed my stay here.

The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Dinner was served in a private room. The premium Shinshu beef tomato hot pot was refreshing and delicious. I ordered a highball, but it was so pale I could barely tell it contained alcohol, which was disappointing. Breakfast was a buffet, and the selection seemed limited. The marinated red snapper was plump and very tasty. The whitebait was also delicious. The corn soup was a pleasant surprise! The miso soup was made with clams, which felt luxurious. As a drinker, having clam soup the next morning would have been perfect. Although I didn't use it, a private family bath is available by reservation. The main bath had one indoor bath and two open-air baths on the first day. The next day, it was switched with the men's bath and included a sauna. Amenities included a hair cap, razor, and comb. The shampoo was a standard one and the classic horse oil shampoo. There was also lotion, emulsion, peeling gel, cleansing foam, and the standard all-in-one gel and scalp care gel found in hot spring resorts. They have heel care cream and everything else you need. There was a free drink bar with oolong tea, green tea, and lemon water near the entrance to the large public bath. There was a vending machine with alcohol and snacks. I'd never seen canned snacks before! The only downside was that the lighting in the changing room and dressing area was too dim, making it difficult to apply makeup. I wish they'd put up a Hollywood-style mirror!

I stayed overnight at Kamiyamada Onsen in Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture. This is a long-established inn, but the building had been renovated and was kept nice and clean. When I checked into my room and turned on the TV, it didn't work, so I called the front desk. A young person came immediately, but it didn't get fixed right away. After a while, they brought in an older person and they checked it out. It turned out the antenna input terminal was broken, and they just showed me the terminal and didn't apologize at all. In previous hotels I've stayed in, they've often changed my room to a better one in cases like this, so I was skeptical of their customer service. At the very least, it was the first time I'd experienced no apology. Also, the futon was so thin that it hurt my back. The breakfast buffet had a limited variety and the food wasn't very tasty. Everything else was relatively good.
