I think this could be a great place, but every business is having to cut corners on staff. This has moved to keyless entry with lock-boxes, which worked fine. But we arrived in the village, had to figure out parking ourselves, let ourselves in, and in the morning let ourselves out. It's hard to feel welcome anywhere when you only interact with machines - how can there be character with no people? The room was good, a main area plus a side bedroom with a bunkbed, shower worked. The restaurant/bar was closed, and the restaurant across the street (related I think) wasn't serving food. We found another that was steps away, so it was fine. In the morning we had some breakfast downstairs (bought separately from the cafe/restaurant/bar) and it was good, and the staff obviously know the locals and get along fine. But what could have been charming visit to a lovely Welsh village just felt like we were ghosts. If you just need a bed, great. If you want to visit this area, look for somewhere with real people.

Started off really well. One of the people from The Crown (which is part of the same group and does amazing food? spotted us walking through town and came and helped us get in the front door. Went downhill from there. The room smelt of cigarettes when we arrive and there were burns in the carpet. The bathroom was filthy. There was a layer of dirt all over the floor, to the point that I thought maybe it was the cover of the floor to start with, until I realised the white bits of floor behind the bath were still white, so it was definitely dirt. Loose bits all over it as well. Bath hadn’t been cleaned and there was dirt in the overflow waste hole on the sink. Bedding and towels were very clean luckily. Tried calling but no answer. Spoke to someone in the morning and they said the manager would contact me but they haven’t. Could’ve really lovely if they sort out the cleaning

Lovely stay and the room was decorated for a birthday surprise. Parking was tricky but found spaces up the street.

Overall the room No 8, was a little tired, needs a deep clean and decorating. The sofa bed well past its sell by. Badly stained and uncomfotable. Bed mattress comfy . Some may find 3 flights of stairs a problem. Parking not on road as inferred, 1 hour limit. Instructed to use cattle market. Ok but this isn't available every day so may be an issue if staying a full week. Cafe bistro very good but closed on our arrival on Saturday we had commitments on Sunday so only used Monday breakfast no complaints. Very friendly.

Free parking just up north street, left at the lights, 120m from lodgings. Good size room, comfortable mattress and whilst the pillows were soft they were comfortable. Bathroom also a good size with bath an electric shower which was powerful enough to be decent Bad- noise from the wind howling through the windows, road noise

accommodation was lovely and clean. Breakfast was really good. Only one negative but in no way reflection on the hotel our room was on the high street right next to the town clock, so heard the chimes on the hour every hour. Hotel great location for visiting the dams.

We were in room 9 so when other guests going in and out of side entrance, door noisy would help if door has a silencer on it as room 9 right next to the exit. Good parking for motorbikes. Breakfast great.

I’d like to say that I’d stayed in worse places, but that would be dishonest, it’s diabolical. The carpets are absolutely minging, filthy!! The walls are like paper so I could hear everything in the next room. The whole place creaks with every movement of every guest so you get no sleep. To say it tired and needs refurbishing is an understatement. It needs knocking down. The place is not staffed, I did not see a single member of staff in three days. You have to collect the keys from a nearby pub. It’s just a complete dive. Never again !!!!!

Liked very hot water in shower/bath, good view of clock tower, nice new mid century sofa, new TV, friendly staff and comfortable bed. However hotel is past its best, very scruffy, as it needs a deep clean, redecoration and a refurb. Carpets are old shabby and stained and decor odd/tired/dated. There is no on-site parking (contrary to description) but road parking available and fine. Hotel not manned, guests have to check in at another hotel in same group.

We loved the little window in our rooftop room and food was generous portions, fresh and well presented. All staff were chatty and helpful. The windows of parts of building could do with up dating but didnt effect our stay. We would happily return .
