The hotel was lovely. The staff where friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, with a good selection. It was nice to have a swimming pool, even though it was a small one. Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn't working.

Great location. Loved that our family room was actually 2 bedrooms, but the double bed was small and too soft, fine for 1 person but awful for 2. Biggest annoyance was about the pool/spa as that was the reason we had booked that hotel. I called before our stay to find out if we needed to book a slot to use the pool, I was told no but that the pool closed at 8pm. At check in we were told we could pick up towels and a keycard at reception for the pool, which I replied we'd be down in about 10 minutes to go swimming. We turned up in our swimming costumes to be told we couldn't use the pool until 3pm due to a toddlers swimming lesson. So we waited 40 minutes, only to then be told we couldn't use the pool until 3:30pm. When we eventually got in it was to find that the sauna and jacuzzi weren't operational. We were on a tight time schedule, so wasting 90 minutes was highly annoying especially as reception had so many opportunities to give us the correct info and let us know the spa facilities weren't working.

IT was a fine place, but a disaster with the patron laundry, as it flooded and didn't work and took me hours to get one wash cycle done, I asked for a comp breakfast to make up for it, and they did not oblige. Kind of uncool.

The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was good but not exceptional. The staff was really nice. It is an older hotel with nice wood paneling in the common rooms. The main problem we had was the plumbing in the room was challenging.

Selection was a good selection of hot food and a wide range of continental food

Accommodation areas being renovated, so bit untidy at the moment. Public areas very nice, restaurants excellent, and the staff were wonderful. I will stay here again if I am in Portsmouth.

Lovely historic building in a good location near station and historic docks. Quiet room.

Great staff all very helpful, breakfast is great value and the hotel is in a great position for all the top restaurants. We will return

Undergoing renovations during my stay so have to reserve judgement a bit. Room was clean and comfortable and small things do matter. Hot chocolate and biscuits were a much appreciated extra that I wasn’t expecting. WiFi worked fine for me and breakfast was good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, room was freshly decorated and very clean. In fact the whole hotel was extremely clean. I was very impressed with how tidy the pool changing rooms were. Bed was comfy and staff were very friendly. The only one thing that let it down a smidge was that the breakfast. I found it was just ok. It had all the basics but the food was just ok. Not the best breakfast we’ve had compared to other places we’ve stayed.

Parking space is limited but there is a multi-storey carpark opposite. I did get a space! Food was good without being Cordon Bleu. Room well equipped with hanging space and writing space. Twin USB sockets on mains outlets. Bed comfortable.

Nice hotel

The corridors, room and swimming pool / sauna areas were terrible. No warnings that the property was undergoing refurbishment. Guest services were rude invading personal space. Communication was poor. Sauna switched off and wasn't advised it takes 15 minutes to heat up.

Good value hotel in a good location.
