My husband and I enjoyed every second in Kakimotoya. The room was great, clean and had wonderful views, staff made us feel welcome and was very attentive. The food was delicious both at dinner and breakfast.

Me and my partner went there for a one night stay and it was amazing . Would definitely recommend ! The hotel is placed in a lovely quiet town which was filled with cherry blossoms. The hotel itself has a very Japanese modern style and was beautiful. The staff are very friendly and sweet. The rooms have most amenities like air conditioning , humidifier , TV , toiletries and towels. We booked the Japanese traditional room with open air bath. The open air bath was just able to fit me (5"3) and my partner (5"6). There are lovely temples, cafes and walk nearby. We would definitely recommend for a short getaway !

Delicious meals, beautiful view from the rooms, super friendly staff (although they don't speak much English). The open air hot tub is great, and so is the shared bath, even though it's not a hot spring. You will have to take a taxi to/from nearest train station. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable.

Amazing location, clean rooms, great food, super nice staff. The outdoor baths in the rooms are huge and big enough for 2 people to be fully submerged (unless one is a larger individual). My only disappointment was that non alcoholic drinks aren't free for dinner. It's a small thing, but 250 for an oolong tea seemed a bit silly with the huge beautiful dinner that you already paid for with the visit. Not a complaint about the quality, just surprising. It can be hard to find. If you're coming from the cable car direction you'll be faced with a fork in the road. Go right even though google makes left look more right. Leaving here there is a great straight line nature trail into Nara. Google wont help you with navigation here, but zoom in on the hotel in google maps and you'll see a straight green line from near the hotel to Nara. Great way to end the trip and head straight for the deer park.

Kakimotoya was such a wonderful stay!! The meal was delicately prepared for dinner and breakfast and took us so long to eat due to all the food! We loved the kimonos that were provided and the onsen bath downstairs and on our balcony. The staff catered to us whenever they could, especially as we had someone with us that was allergic to fish. The area around the inn is fantastic and full of history with many active temples. We almost missed it if we had not been so nosy! Bring a couple of credit cards to pay though, as I brought a Visa credit card that did not work. Only worked when we used a debit card. Annoying, but at least we had something to use.
