A superior room was booked. It was tiny. Ground floor. Very cold. The hotel property is old and in desperate need of decoration and updating. There was no water in the room, surely a basic in a hotel these days?! The shower was awful, no water pressure. The toilet is the size of a primary school child’s bottom and very, very low. The towel provided (found another in a Cupboard) was rock hard. Toiletries provided were basically fairly liquid. Now the main issue-the bed. It was a king (?) made up with two separate single mattresses that were different heights. Every move emitted a squeak and clunk of mattress springs. They were old and extremely uncomfortable. We got barely any sleep, eventually sleeping at 5am! There were no staff to be found at checkout. We will never stay here again and would recommend that no one else spend their hard earned money. When we complained, via Expedia, there was no apology, no refund, part of other. Avoid!!!

The staff were super. Very accommodating with an early check in request and helpful friendly bar service. The pub itself looked lovely. Very cosy though we only visited fleetingly Our room was very comfortable, with everything needed for a short stay. The bed was comfy and the room clean and warm. Thank you. Wish we'd been offered breakfast as an option on check in!

Spotless and warm room, comfy bed and friendly staff. Food home-cooked really well, especially tasty pan gravy with our roasts. Great stopover close to the motorway on our way to the south west.

Good sized rom, clean, tidy and looked like it had been updated. Downsize was the meal cost as against portion size. Very nice and tasty but very expensive for what you got.

The only criticism is the shower which was tiny and had awful water pressure.

Very clean rooms with everything we needed. Not enough staff in the bar, and the big breakfast was a tiny portion for £17 which we felt ripped off for. Apart from that it was a nice stay.

Staff at check in very polite and helpful. Room nicely decorated and plenty of space. Desk with a chair useful. Shower adequate. Bed linen clean and bed comfortable.

Convenient for where we needed to be,basic rooms we had a deluxe king room which seemed to be the same as a standard but with a king bed so there was little spare room. No armchairs to relax & watch tv, barhroom basic, tiny shower onyl 1 hand towel and bath gel, for 2 people? Bed was ok and pillows were great. Good a la carte breakfast menu & food was good.

Room was really clean the downside was the kitchen fans were directly outside our bedroom window, so cooking smells coming into the bedroom we had to keep the window closed as had clothes for a wedding hanging up. Expensive breakfast went to the pub next door which was so much cheaper.

Staff were very friendly and hotel an rooms where super clean Only problem was parking.

Great location for visiting the city centre bus stops outside .retail parks and restaurants 5 to 10 mins walk away lovely gardens spacious rooms

Best breakfast ever. Great quality meat and swapped grilled tomato for wilted spinach - Yum, absolutely amazing mix! Chef wasn't too impressed though

Our room was clean with a good shower but the springs in the bed had collapsed, the mattress in room 4 really needs replacing

Really good overall , friendly staff, good size car park, food - good but could be better. Room compact but with all necessary facilities.
