Booked to stay in the hope hotel.but was put in a property a 3 or 4 minute walk down a side street.had no cold water.only hot.also had the fan .changed twice .due to the heat.but still didnt work properly.poor breakfast

En-suite room is in a different building around the corner from the main hotel but the place was lovely and clean,Karen was very helpful in showing us where to go to find this building, definitely would stay here again if I’m ever back in Southend-on-sea

Had a fabulous long weekend at the Hope with my cousin.I would like to Thank George and Ann-Marie and all the staff Tony Karen and others for there excellent service.Rooms spotless and clean and a good size.Entertainment the weekend.Will Defo be booking again Thankyou x

They offered different room as booked. And was so poor air condition.

It was a lovely stay with a beach view. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the full english breakfast was really tasty. I had a great nights sleep too! Everyone here was also welcoming. Thank you

Area of the Ensuite rooms not very attractive. Rooms very basic but clean.

Staff fabulous. Rooms a little dated but clean. Comfy bed and decent shower. No breakfast options but it didn’t matter as breakfast was excellent. No complaints at all. Great price for what we got. Will go back Parking 5 mins away as is the beach. Location great if you want the hub of the action.

So if you book a room with a sea view then it’s best not to expect an early night .. especially at the weekend. And if the sun is out .. lots of traffic and people sat outside playing classic old school bangers along with the latest hits. The room has what you need. Kettle milk tea n coffee. The staff are brilliant. And you get a tasty breakfast in the morning.its close to the beach and local attractions.. would I stay again.. I think I would yeah ..

I loved my stay! Clean room, fresh-smelling linens, exceptional hosts, welcoming atmosphere. Delicious breakfast. I will always return.

Very convenient and clean (although slight damp smell throughout) and staff were lovely! This is a pretty basic hotel though - room large with comfy bed but warm - and if you don't have a room in the hotel itself you are nowhere near the sea - wasn't a problem for us. It's a very busy locals pub though which we were good with but not a tranquil seaside stay. And parking is tricky as need to top up at the off-site carpark at 8am each day. Good breakfast tho!

We been going to the hope hotel for years, always loved it, the boss an staff always friendly, good service, breakfast included is just enough. Your right on sea front, love the pub to it, my hubby an I have always enjoyed.

.There was big fat flies coming out of the bathroom air vent. .The entrance smells smoky. .It was the heat wave and asked the staff for a fan and he said he will bring it but never did. .I did not get a beach view i was taken to a hostel around the corner about 3 mins away from the beach. .Did not use the bar.

I have stayed in youth hostels I would rate higher than the Hope Hotel. Shower didn't work, lamp didnt work, toilets didn't flush, music so loud from downstairs till 12.30am that couldn't hear TV and the shower door was rattling. Cabinet was broken and floor was dirty. Asked if could swap rooms and told what did I expect staying in a pub on a Saturday. There were rooms available and the woman was just rude. No sleep, no shower and just crap. The breakfast staff were nice and that the only positive. Wouldn't recommend at all and will share with everyone at our new travel Uk business to avoid at all costs.

We was in the house round the corner the room was very big and clean, and it'll was not far fro the beach and staff was very friendly and helpful,

Excellent visit. The accommodation is very central and there were no issues. Good size bed and en suite. Excellent breakfast.

Not actually a beach view at all in separate houses from the hotel a few blocks away. Room was okay. Would have been good to have a mini fridge

Nice place and nice people. Southend is brilliant.
