The hotel is in an idylic situation close to the castle, town square with easy access to great walks, that explore the surrounding village/town and countryside. Food is good, as are the rooms, car parking is tight but accessible. Plus loads of things to do within easy reach. Staff were all helpful, polite and made you very welcome.

We only stayed for 1 night but we were so impressed with how comfy, clean and spacious the lodge was and also the location of the hotel such a beautiful setting with the castle very close by really picturesque. Hotel staff were brilliant very helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast which was included in the price was delicious and the eggs Benedict were perfect with a nice runny yolk. We’ll definitely stay again as Orford is such a beautiful quaint place to visit.

Orford is a delightful village and the crown and castle sits in the centre. Very comfortable. Lovely staff and delicious food.

The staff were fantastic, really friendly and helpful, our garden room was really nice and very clean, the food was amazing, both dinner and breakfast, overall a really lovely stay.

Amazing place

The room was pristine, the breakfast was excellent and all the staff friendly and efficient. One member of staff, John, was particularly lovely and went out of his way to help us on the afternoon we arrived early before our room had been cleaned. He let us into the room to change for the wedding we were going to and gave us some towels to freshen up. Also, the following day he went out of his way to help find us a taxi which was proving very difficult!

We had a lovely few days over the bank holiday weekend. We had dinner twice in the restaurant and both times the food was excellent with impeccable service. Breakfast was equally as good. The staff could not be more helpful. We had an amazing view from our room looking out to sea. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent service with genuine friendly staff. Brilliant team under leadership of manager John. Lovely room with everything you need for a comfortable stay including fresh flask of milk each day. Good menu choice in the restaurant with fresh fish and local meat all delicious. Plentiful breakfast of very high quality. Beautiful village with gorgeous walks on your doorstep packed with wildlife.

Stopped here for the first time last night, for work, and what a lovely place it was to. Staff were extremely polite and the service was excellent throughout my stay. My room while not the largest I've stayed in was of a good size. A pleasing item in the room was a small flask containing real milk for a good old cupper, this is a rare find as most times you stop way they only provide that terrible hit milk, that spoils you first tea of the day. Food was of an excellent quality, I just wish I had had a better appetite to be able to make the most of what was on offer, but I didn't so I settled for corn fed chicken, which was great. Would I stop here again, absolutely.

Best of all the local options: very efficient & good reception. Extremely comfortable bed. Room would benefit from having a safe.

Not bad but unfortunately the food was not up to the standard we have been used to in our previous visits. Dinner could not really be described as "fine dining" and breakfast was a bit uninspiring. The garden room is lovely but the mattress was a little bit too soft for my taste. Service is still good however.

Fabulous stay in this characterful hotel with amazing views, excellent breakfasts, attentive & helpful staff. Walks from the doorstep along the estuary (car not used); boat trip to bird sanctuary - and seals; pretty village with selection of shops and riverside tearoom serving wonderful fresh crab sandwiches: perfect.
