Beautiful grounds, but no restaurant or real hospitality
The grounds are well kept and the pool is beautiful with lush vegetation around it, about 1.2 hours from Quito. That's where the positives end.
There is no functioning restaurant despite what's advertised — we were directed to a roadside eatery up the street with questionable sanitation. "Included" breakfast required scheduling an appointment and lady was not there a worker came out and told us to waited to brew coffee; we skipped it and drove an hour elsewhere for meals, worried about getting sick.
The property felt essentially empty. The lady in charge was kind but had no hospitality experience, and there was no consistent staff for basic guest service. Advertised spa at the location and massage services were not available at all.
The room was small and clean, but the bathroom grout was moldy, hot water took ~20 minutes each shower, after lady came to fix something. Poorly placed outlets (one in the bathroom, one near the ceiling) left the room too dark to even read in. No internet was offered. We were pointed toward a river hike with no marked trail, which felt unsafe to attempt alone.
The glowing reviews online do not match what we experienced. Go in with no expectation of a working restaurant or hospitality service. Totally boring, nothing to do!
