Property in maintenance front of property covered in scaffolding. Hotel very unhelpful when trying to reserve a car parking space, just didn’t want to know. There is parking on dirty dusty gravel site at the rear of the hotel price at £8 per day. Food overpriced and service extremely slow.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The staff were welcoming, the breakfast was great and we had an evening meal too that was very tasty. The bar had a lovely atmosphere. Our room was spacious with a lovely view over the pier, it was clean with a walk in shower. Obviously they are renovating the hotel so when the scaffolding is removed it will be a fine building. Location was perfect near to everything but parking is a nightmare in peak season. We look forward to returning soon again.

Parking in the hotel car park was almost impossible unless you have pre booked at a cost of £8 a night in a reserved space. The hotel is undergoing extensive renovation which inevitably involves some scaffolding on part of the outside and the ballroom is nearing completion. These things caused little inconvenience as we enjoyed a lovely de luxe room with a fabulous view over the harbour. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall we enjoyed a lovely short break and will be returning

The staff were very good and helpful, the room was comfortable, the view from the room was good. The one lift was small and heavily used and the evening meal wasn't particularly good. I downloaded the Ringgo app for parking on the West Cliff car park as the hotel car parking is limited and that particular car park had spaces and was close to the hotel.

Lovely sea view room, shame about the scaffolding. Great all you can eat breakfast, plenty of staff to assist. Bar was always busy again with plenty of staff.

Lovely 4 poster refurbished room with amazing views of Abbey. Breakfast was disappointing and very basic with limited options and ran out of pastries both days we were there

Stayed one night on a Sunday, bar very busy and whole place was buzzing, great to see the old building being put to good use. Some of the decorative finishes have been rushed and bedrooms although modern and clean are still basic, but guess that’s a work in progress. Also scaffolding on one side, but again not really an issue. Breakfast is self serve but all good quality ingredients regularly topped up

I enjoyed the hotel position and parking availability. The restaurant had a good menu. I did find the hotel in general quite dark. The hotel corridor was particularly gloomy.

The location of this historic hotel is excellent, with great views of the town and abbey and within walking distance of the beach. It’s worth noting that the hotel is currently under renovation and we initially had an older room but hotel staff were accommodating when we asked to change. The renovated room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The hotel has a great restaurant, bar, and coffee shop and the lounge is cozy and chic.

We stayed in a lovely newly renovated family room. It was lovely and spacious and had a great little bunk bed for the kids. The hotel seems really clean and very popular. We didn’t sample the breakfast as we were out exploring, but we’ve had a lovely stay.

Overall a very good stay, the reason for 4 out of 5 is due to the room. Nothing wrong from a cleanliness point of view, but the room was dated and could do with a bit of modernising. Understandable given the age of the place. Would recommend a stay here - ideal for all things Whitby

Great views were obstructed by scaffolding. Staff were continously fantastic and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Great value for money in best location.
