Great hotel, we normally stay at the pub across the road. This hotel has had some money spent on it VERY recently. New carpets, fresh painting, new furniture and if I'm not wrong, some or all of the old brickwork inside have been repointed. Our room (4) had a nice view of the castle. The TV was not worth the bother, it just didn't work. Breakfast was nice, but I think there should be a bell or something in the restaurant area to notify the staff in the kitchen that guests are waiting. everyone that we saw (including us) were left standing around for at least 10 minutes, because the staff didn't know. The small bolt on the inside of our room door was hanging off, so it needs screwed on properly or taken off. We prefer it to be fixed and kept. The staff at breakfast were nice enough. It's a shame that all this work has been done which is just going to get ruined when people with dirty wet smelly dogs in !! We will go back, but if I get the dog smell, I'll just stay elsewhere. It doesn't matter how well a room is cleaned after a dog has been all over it, you will NEVER get the smell away. Oh, it was excellent to see a Hotel which still has a Bible in it....thanks.

The rooms in the main building are well appointed. While clearly being upgraded, our room was warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated including a 17 century painting. The breakfast was good quality and served well. The proprietor could perhaps think about clearing boxes etc into one space rather than steoing gintbhebdining room and perhaps have a look at the leaking toilet diaphragm in room 4 . Would stay again.

Just had a one night stop over in this lovely hotel. As the name suggests, the castle is literally opposite! The hotel itself is a very beautiful old building but our room had a lovely modern twist. Recently renovated, beautifully bright and spacious. The bed and bedding very comfortable (we had a great night sleep) Our room was number 5 that looked over the back gardens. Very peaceful evening with the gentle sound of the pond trickling in the back garden. Breakfast was lovely and relaxed and the service was fab. Lovely and friendly and laid back. We would most definitely stay here again if ever in Chepstow. Thanks for a great stay 😊

Perfect! We stayed here for a gig at the castle. Could not ask for a better location, its directly opposite the castle, a public car park which is only £6.80 for 24 hours. The hotel itself is clean, bed was very very comfortable and the shower amazing. Breakfast was also perfect, freshly cooked and plenty of it. The staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely stay again. Highly recommended

Review on behalf of my mother and her friend. The photos on Google were not at all representative of our stay at all, the entire place was a mess, the garden was completely bare, the keys were incredibly difficult to find. Our room smelled of mould, and I was told that I should've disclosed my lung condition when I complained that I could not stay in that room. The window was barely still in the frame itself, and was apparently due to be measured for a refitting, shouldn't have been a room available for customers if there isn't a secure window. The hallway outside of the room was incredibly messy and had trip hazards. The other couple that was there had a room that smelled of BO. Very rude service; never sent the access code and took an hour and a half to get through to someone (eventually got through, put on hold, forgotten about and had to keep calling back),we were told we wouldn't find any other hotels in the local area (we did), we were told we couldn't get a refund until tomorrow (they never did, Bookings.com did), we were told that I should've fully disclosed my medical history to ensure that the I wasn't put in a room with mould (completely unacceptable, even if I wasn't ill I shouldn't have to stay in a mouldy room). We ended up spending three hours in total trying to get this all sorted before we just went and booked an alternative hotel, we were only meant to have one day in Chepstow and the entire time was spent dealing with this awful hotel and then finding alternative arrangements for the night.
